Photo Tickets

I was away on a trip in phoenix a few onths ago and today I recieved a ticket with my pictre that a camera took claiming I ran a red light. This is total bullsh$t.. anyone gotten one of these? How did you get out of it? For the record, the light wasnt even yellow yet it was still green and I remember seeing hte flash go off and asked my friend if they took a picture of my car! I was amazed

They had the system in Ontario, Canada. I knew a few people that got nailed with a photo ticket and what they did was this:

On the back of the ticket you have the right to object with the fine and go to court.
What happened with the people I know was that they showed up with a legitimate argument and the judge tore up the ticket saying they took the time out of their work day and had a legitimate issue with the ticket. He gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Lastly, I did not know that went on here in Arizona. Where abouts where you in A?

yeah....they lasted about 1 year here in Ontario..........didn't go over very well..............

had one myself.........went to court.......judge laughed and tore it up.........guess you can see why it didn't go over very well here huh

This might be an urban myth, but I heard this once in California, and I'm sorry if this isn't a fact, but I do believe it to be true. California was supposed to be the test state for these photo tickets about 10 years ago. Within its first months inception, a guy got a ticket...No big deal right......but apparently the ticket gets mailed to your house....another no big deal......wife opens the ticket, and lo and behold the guy is in the car with another woman.....BIG DEAL

Like I said, this could be an urban legend type thing, but im pretty sure it happened. The guy apparently sued the hell out of the state on privacy issues, and i have no idea what happened after that.

I heard of this and actually read an interesting story somewhere. Not sure if it's true or not, so take it for it's worth. Apparently, a person was mailed a ticket/fine in the amount of $50 for running a red light or similar violation. So instead of taking immediate action and actually mailing the money in for the violation, the person got creative and photocopied a picture of a $50 bill and mailed it in. Well the court system catching light of this humor, returned a letter to the violator with a photocopied set of handcuffs. The person promptly paid the fine with real money shortly thereafter..

Like I said, not sure if it's true, but interesting none the less. I think I saw it on snopes.com or something similar.....

funny stories, but to fight it that means i got to take off work and fly out to scottsdale. ND, it was on scottsdale road and thomas, i was going north on scottdale.

I dont know how it works in Pho. but in Cali. if you get a photo ticket and request a hearing you can also request for a change in the location of the hearing. Lots of people do this when they receive tickets in different states, because it means the police officer, or in your case a county rep., has to travel out of state just for a traffic ticket hearing and there is less of chance that the police officer or county rep will show up.......meaning it's dismissed
