This requires an honest answer.

How many of you have spent / are spending time in review of last weeks card to see where mistakes were made?

What attracted you to a side which was blown out?

What attracted you to a game which landed too close to the number?

How many of you believe reviewing last weeks card is a waste of time?

The bookmaker put me to sleep on three of my plays and I don't want to make the same mistake again. I believe reviewing the matchup card along with my records can help me from repeating the same mistake.

I think that 75% of the games are a coinflip, so anything that lands within 10-14 points of the number doesn't get my attention.

I will review games where I'm dead wrong to try and figure out what I missed, but I'm not always successful at it.

Buddy,

I do it all the time. Ask myself the same questions and about the games I lost on. I still can't figuire out the ASU/UNC game I know why they didn't cover but I would bet the same 9/10 games. When Tuesday comes I put everything behind and look forward to the next week. Hope this helps!!

I go to bed thinking about it. I wake up thinking about it. I am consumed with it. Still learning but I will get there.:D
I hope!

Really don't lose enough to worry about it.

If I do it's on a backdoor cover, or some late bullshit llike almost happened to KC and did happen to the Texans

most of the time one team will have a bad day...things go wrong, and it gets compounded.....

no use fretting over it.....the "bookmaker" isnt in charge and doesn't "take it to you"........teams have good days and bad....sometimes you catch a team on a bad day and you lose your bet no matter how right you were...period end of story no use to overanalyze

Good point dr. freeze.

Some games are not worth doing an exhaustive post-mortem analysis.

Mort Olshan in his Gold Sheet used to say that 50% of all games were decided by what he called "the X-factor" (i.e., unforeseen circumstances such as turnovers, injuries, weather changes, flukey plays, etc.). Even the best handicapped game can go bad when these things happen.

buddy - i go over all my plays after the result is in - take some notes & try to learn from my wins & my losses...some view this as a waste of time - i view it as learning as much as i can about the teams I have wagered on...it helps in the future...

A big thing I look at is the so called "public" plays - we all know there are some plays where like 75% or more of the people seem to be on that side - and we all know that the public usually loses more than they win - but there are the times that we should be on the side of the public - take the last MNF game for example - everyone deemed the Chiefs as the "public side" and they ended up being the right side...I like to take note of the lines where it looks like a "trap" - those too good to be true lines...I try to understand what side does Vegas want us to be on...I know my handicapping has improved over the past 5 years - especially as to understanding the psychology of how Vegas sets the lines...this is the biggest aspect of handicapping that cappers need to pay attention to

Anyways - time spent looking over your plays is time well spent...it cannot hurt you - only help you in the future...the more each and every one of us tries to understand more about sports handicapping - the better off we will all be if we continue to work together and share our knowledge...

GL to all of you!
