A couple of things to think about...
Minny's offense has been rolling for a few weeks now. No team, I don't care how good they are, are going to come out and be crisp game after game after game. Minny's undefeated and hasn't really had a game yet where the offense has slipped up at all. This is a perfect spot for that to happen. They've scored 35, 29, and 28 points in each of their last three games. They have Green Bay next week - possible look ahead situation. Overall, definitely a let-down spot...
As far as the Giants go, they aren't playing bad football. They're two plays away from being 4-2. But here's the most compelling stats...
In their last three games since the bye week, they're 0-3. Here are the total stats for those three games...
Total Yards:
NYG - 1070 (357/game avg)
Opp - 669 (223/game avg)
Time of Possession:
NYG - approximately 101:30
Opp - apporximately 78:30
Those are two HUGE stats. They've played Mia, NE, and Phi in those three games. The difference? NYG has been able to move the ball almost at will, but then they turn it over. They are at -9 in turnovers in those games - the difference of a 3-0 streak and an 0-3 streak.
NY isn't by any means a bad football team, in fact, take away two plays and a couple turnovers, and they could very well be sitting at 5-1 and tied for the NFC East lead. They have the talent to beat Minny, especially in this situation. Minny is due for a loss and has a huge conference rival next week and they're playing a team who, on the surface, doesn't look very good at 2-4. And also remember, the Giants historically play better when Fassel has his back to the wall - which he very much does this week.
I'd take great caution in putting money on Minny this week. They have the D to create the turnovers, no doubt. But NY will hardly be a pushover and could come out with a SU win...
Good luck this week!
