There are a few things that might save you money this year. Rule #1 is

Be very careful playing anything that LAL, Dal, Sac, or NY is involved in. They are all high profile public fav's this year and will cost you more than they are worth.

Rule #2

Study the coaches and their tendancies. Have you noticed that they will hire a coach that has never won anywhere before they go get new blood? There's a reason for this and I'll let you figure it out for yourself.

Rule #3

If you think you can win in the NBA without taking Vegas into account you will be broke before the all star break. watch the line movements and learn which moves mean something and which ones don't.

Rule #4

If you think you are smart enough to figure out what is going to happen in any of the opening night games you have already started off on the wrong foot.

Rule #5

Go light the first couple of weeks until you see how the old players are going to respond to the new coaches and players they are working with. It's a long season so why dig a hole and spend the rest of the season digging yourself out.

With this said, I plan on going with a 1 unit par tonight.

Phil o 174
LAL u 205

A line movement between 5:50 and 6:15 est. on either of these teams that appears to help me (goes down on Phil or up on LA) makes it a no play.

Good luck to all of you this season.

TheItalianguy, people that have followed me for awhile know that I don't want Vegas helping me in the NBA. As far as the timeframe, I just believe that the moves at that time have more meaning than at other times.

I'm a little confused. If the square money comes in at that time and drives the line away from your lean (in this case, Philly down or LA up), then surely this is not a reason to make a no play.

Did you perhaps mean to say "sharp money" or am I just not getting it? At least if the sharps were betting against you, there might be a good reason to hold the bet.

Thanks for answering, anyone...

Joe....

is it your belief that the money that comes in late is smart money? Thanks for all your hard work and great picks in bases and the nba.
