Texas road trip (Need Info)

What's up everyone, hope you all are having a good betting season, I am not personally, and have personal issues to deal with so I'm out of the game for now, yet I visit madjacks still regularly as I think it's a helluva site, nfl just has been too much for me this year, it's been unreal.

Anyway, My friend in california likes to travel to sporting events and things, and I haven't been away in a long time, so we're going to fly to Texas december 20th, stay till jan 3rd.... Basically, just going to rent a car, hit up spurs,rockets,mavs games and a few bowl games, and hopefully giants cowboys, as well as visit a few college campuses, go to bars nightily, get plastered and try and find some hot southern girls to bring back to the hotel .....

Here are the details. Will be in: Houston,San Antonio,Austin,Corpus Christi,Dallas and possibly college station.....Here is what Im asking for, and hopefully will get tons of input from now until then, I know theres tons of texans on this site........Basically, ANY kind of input from all you guys....especially good restaurants(not expensive), bars, cool things to see, places where the hot chicks are, etc etc....I did some research, but figured theres some good local resturants and bars in these locales that people could point me in the right direction........I thank you for the help, this site has been good to me even though I havent been betting and I've met some good people, looking forward to hearing from these lone star state people, thanks fellas, happy football

I have no idea if/where Dr. Strangelove/TTMM has been. But if you want eye candy in the DFW Metroplex, you want to go to Greenville. I'm sure UT-Longhorn knows more about the area than I do, so hopefully he'll bring something up in this thread. Anyhow, I'm sure there are hot chicks in Plano, but if you want to see a ton of hot chicks, you should go to Lower Greenville in downtown Dallas, where most of the SMU girls go. I hope you don't care if they are stuck up, because that's how just about all of them are. But Plano is just a burb; if you want to see how Dallas chicks really are, you have to go downtown.

I know parts of dallas are pretty affluent, and Im sure the smu girls are stuck up,lol but I can handle it..You're right, no reason to go to a 'burb, not much there, gotta go downtown.....Thx for the help, I will get your email down the line and hopefully you'll be around for a few of the days I'll be there or else Ill drop you a line, hopefully many others reply here w/some good bars and eats also

well you won't find any hot girls in south padre at this time of year, only during spring break. in fact, the only eye candy to be found are senior citizens taking a break from their elderly greeter jobs at the local Wal-Mart.

if you're looking for the watering holes in Austin, just remember 6th street. the wine and dine places are in the warehouse district a few blocks away on 4th street. just keep the black leather pants at home in NY and you should do fine with the ladies.

Disappointing re:south pade, too bad it wont be spring break time, haha Ill pass on the sr.citizens, definitely will check out 6th street, just don't wanna go broke buying fancy meals Ill stick to good ole burgers and sandwiches ice cold brews and hot women, thx for the input

best burgers are at "Casino El Camino". Truly excellent and basket/fries under $6. Kitchen open from 4pm until 1am or so.

This dark bar is next to Esther's Follies at east end (toward interstate) of 6th street strip. Burgers here are top quality meat, hand patted, never frozen, cooked medium unless you ask. Fries are never frozen and had cut. So takes a while to do, but it's worth the wait!


best time to visit 6th is on weekend of UT home game, or bowl game. But be sure to see it some fri or sat night to view all the talent. Would see much more if you weren't visiting when UT out of session. But still a sight!


The TX State Capitol building is worth a visit to see some TX history. It's just a few blocks up from 6th street, and then you go only a few blocks more to UT campus (makes a nice walk!)


When driving in TX be sure to watch speed limits near cities on interstates. Some places they go from 75 to 50 in only a few miles and cops generate alot of revenue from folks not observing it. The drive from Austin to San Antonio has several of these (and this is also the most dangerous stretch of I35--which runs from MX to Canada).

And some small towns in the back country make bundles of money off speeders, so watch it when you drive to College Station.

My old van can't speed too well and I never got a ticket driving all over TX for several years, but saw plenty of folks pulled over!

Visit Ft. Worth if you can, downtown area is really nice. Good bars and good food. If you are in Dallas eat at Bob's Steak and Chop House. It is very good and where everyone (pro athletes and others) goes when they are in town. It is a little pricey but it is good. The stockyards area of Fort Worth used to be fun but it has been years since I was there. Joe T. Garcia's is a must when in Fort Worth, it is on Main St. going toward the stockyards. Go on a weekend night and enjoy the outside atmosphere. Look out for the margaritas they will sneek up on you.

I will second Bob's Chophouse great place for steaks in Dallas and it's downtown (west end) also do a search for Deep Ellum in Dallas, hear that its' a pretty good party scene also. In regards to Houston there is a great Doubletree hotel and if you tell them you work for Schlumberger you will get a great rate It's in the Galleria area of Houston and there is plenty of hell to raise there, bars, gentlemen's entertainment etc. The Rockets play downtown now, but you can find action downtown and the galleria - the village (Rice Village) is close to the galleria area too. The Aeros (minor league hockey) will be in town too, great price and lots of action.

I just moved to Dallas from NY and i can vouch for Dr Strangelove with the Plano thing. Overall i think the women are much hotter than in NY. NYsportsfan, send me a message if u can, there some things i would like to talk about if you come to Dallas.

We are hitting up a Rockets game @ the Toyota Center, as Im a big knicks fan and Jeff van gundy fan, should be cool, we can always drive to the galleria area for some drinks, one guy doesnt drink, so he can drive ....We were thinkin of staying at all Drury Inns(friend swears by them), but maybe I will call up doubletree and mention that name, thanks a lot

nemo- what part of Ny did you live in? I dont travel a whole lot, dont have the $ or time, I always have wanted to move to a warmer climate, but all the jobs and higher paying ones are in the northeast, sadly enough so is the grind and expensive cost of living, Id love some hotter women than the cutthroat ny'ers......Drop your email address on here if you are allowed, or reply back here and ill give you mine
