Thanks for your question concerning Mem. I felt the answer should be in a new thread instead of being stuck in yesterday's thread.

For you people that might not understand what's going on in Mem I'll point a couple of things out for you. This is not the Vancouver Grizzlies. The owners in Mem showed me they were serious when they convinced the smartest GM in the NBA (Jerry West) to leave LA and come in with them. And then West does the impossible. He talks Hubie Brown, maybe the best developer of young talent to ever coach in the NBA, out of retirement. The knock on Hubie was that he couldn't take them to the championship. Well that was twenty years ago and with Jerry West behind him anything might happen.

If you were watching the game last night you might have picked up on a couple of things that could benifit you in the coming weeks. You might remember this play. It was in the last few minutes of the game and the game was still up for grabs. Memphis got the ball on a fast break and threw it away. The cameraman caught West just as it happened and the frustration was so apparent that it was almost funny. What does that tell you? When the front office is living and dying on every play in a tight game this early in the season what more can we ask for. Right after that, Hubie really turned up the d. Those kids thought they could win that game and they did.

There is no one on the Mem team that can't score and if they won't play d, they won't be around long. So far I haven't seen the front office make a single mistake. Everyone they have brought in has been a plus and added another dimension to the team. All you have to do is watch this bunch of kids play in a tight game compared to some of the other young teams in a similiar game to realize what kind of job Hubie is doing.

Last year when they announced the hiring of Hubie, I wrote to give Hublie a couple of weeks to get familiar with his talent and we could make good money on Mem. I did very well with them last year. Memphis is still a year away from being a high profile team such as Sac and Dallas which means that we should be able to make some money on them again this year.

TheItalianguy, I hope this answers your question on how I feel about Memphis

thanks for the quick reply gsp.

yes, i don't know them very well, I only know well Pau Gasol from watching him in Europe and somewhat Battier from college. I didn't watch any of their games yet and I guess that's why I am so surprised. West is a guarantee for success and being competitive and I guess now the results are starting to show.

I was tempted to make a play on SA last night but then I saw you and others thinking about playing Memphis and so it became a no play.

I guess the question is if they could fight for a playoff spot in the tough western conference, we'll see. I'll be checking them out. thanks

memphis was one of my favorite teams to bet on last year in the nba. they were a cash machine in certain spots. they made me lots of money along with the bulls toward the end of last season. clearly, things are headed in the right direction down there. they probably wont make the playoffs simply because the west is so damn tough, but theres always a lot of value in their gms and they can be very profitable if wagered on in the right spots.
