Pete Rose is back on the radar after telling a Cincinnati television reporter this week that he's feeling good about his chances for reinstatement by Major League Baseball.

The Rose interview was to run Wednesday night on WLWT-TV, according to a story published in the Cincinnati Enquirer.

"Based upon my conversation with him, he seems very confident ... that he's going to be reinstated into baseball," Channel 5 anchor Dave Wagner told the Enquirer.

Rose also suggested in his TV interview that any reinstatement agreement will allow him to manage again in the major leagues, the Enquirer reported. Rose's reinstatement might possibly come by the end of the year, according to the newspaper. He would then be eligible for the Hall of Fame.

There have been past reports claiming that as part of any reinstatement deal, Rose would have to admit to betting on baseball.

Rose recently told the Enquirer, it was reported, that his business agent Warren Greene and baseball president and chief operating officer Robert DuPuy sat together for two consecutive Florida Marlins home playoff games in early October.

Rose did not divulge what the two discussed, the newspaper reported.

Baseball's all-time hits leader met with commissioner Bud Selig last year to discuss the possibility of reinstatement, but since news of their meeting leaked, Rose rarely has talked with the media.

Mike Schmidt, Rose's former teammate in Philadelphia, said last summer that he believed Rose would be reinstated this month. Baseball officials, however, have said there is no timetable.

I don't think it happens so fast, i think they have been out to screw him which they have because lots more of been done in sports then what Pete did. Hell even worse done in baseball going on now. Pete should be in the hall , the hall has nothing to do with what you are like as a person it is what you did as a player.

Is'nt Denny McClain in the hall? I could be wrong and to lazy to check but if he is and I think he is you going to tell me what he has done is not far worse then anything rose has done. And trust me if you ran the right test or any at all you would find that there are home run hitting guys that will be in the hall that took drugs that are against the law and not just bonds trust me why do you think big mac had so much body break down, sure didnot come from being a dh and first basemen:shrug:

say what you want Rose has been screwed from day 1 so he bet on his team and I am sure of that almost but when the man was on the field he was one of the best that baseball will ever see he gave it his all and could play the game. You can't take that away from the guy for him making bets as a manager, you can fight with me on this till you are blue in the face as a player he should be in the hall and so should bert .b with his uncle charlie cb,he has been black balled for some reason.

I remember two great NFL football players who got suspended from there teams for a year. Both are in te hall of fame. Both got in trouble for gambling. Pete has payed his dues. It's time.

Justlooked it up McClain not in the hall but anyway sure would like to see Rose in the hall. There is a part of me that doesn't like the thought of a mgr. possibly betting on /or against his own team. If I was into someone & I had that kind power I know what I would do. i believe Horning & Karras still go around joking about their gambling.

The guy has been punished enough let him in the hall, the guy that really has alot of hatred towards Rose is Bob Lemon, he is constantly leading the crusade to keep Rose out of the hall.
