I've been trying to get get Macromedia Shockwave running for at least nine hours.

Every time I down load it in IE I get a message "Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience." Netscape/Opera just asks me to download even though I just did.

This is what i've tried so far:

I'm running windows 98
Repair of IE 6. I have the 6.1 update Uninstall shockwave. I've done this at least a dozen times.
Installed shockwave 7.0...didn't help.
Downloaded the stand alone.. No help
Downloaded Active plug in.. No help either.
Uninstalled java . Nope
Installed Opera.. Can't do it .
Installed Netscape.. Nada.
Did a complete scandisk. Didn't help
Went to Tools-Iternet Options-Settings-View Objects-and removed shockwave objects. Didn't do any good.
Downloaded RegMedic but that's too scary for me to jump into.

I would appreciate any help in getting this problem resolved. I'm ready for the loonie bin.

Think you could help?

Thanks-
