Guys the thing that gets me is all that money were throwing away. Iraq can repay with all the wealth they have.
The other thing is what we started in Iraq does not make me feal any safer. Our open boards are a bigger threat to our country then Iraq ever was. And we should have spent the 87 billion here at home trying to do something about it. And if Bush wants to be re-elected. I have a hunch he will take anew VP with him. Cheney can drag hin down to a loss.

DTB I know there are good things happening. I only hope they have some affecte on our security here at home. On the other hand cant get to mad at the press. They do highlite the deaths now. And I guess they should. But everyonce in a while they talk about 10 to 15 attacks that happen everyday. I never here much about them. We should know complete story. Americans should be able to see both. The press should tell about the good things in a list once a week. And below that tell the bad things also. Give equal time for both. We can judge for our self then what is good or bad. And does any of it in the long run matter at all.

Not much time today and I just noticed this thread. As of a few days ago, we had lost 382 American Lives in this conflict. That is regrettable. If you speak to any of the wounded, who are mainly amputees from the improvised bombs, they will tell you it is worth it. Some even want to go back. We lost 58,000 men in Vietnam, in a war designed to stop the sprad of Communism. We didn't stand a chance over there for a number of reasons; one major one being the S. Vietnamese were complertently imcompetent and were unable to hold any area we had liberated.
In WWII, we lost 482,000 men stopping the spread of Nazism and facism. In that War, we lost over 15% of every serviceman called into duty. I believe we have 120,000 troops in the Middle East for this conflict. 382 / 120,000 = 0.3 percent. We have a long way to go to calling this a Vietnam. And, this is a much more important conflict to our national security than Vietnam ever was.
As for the economy....check out on the internet what the country's leading eceonomists are saying about the tax cuts. They are both liberal and conservative. The tax cuts are working. Unemployment is a lagging indicator of the economy. Business is starting to see an increase in capital and they are spending to upgrade systems - computers, etc. Sales are increasing. People will need to be put back on the payroll but that will be the last thing to happen. They will not increase payroll until sales justify it. Watch on Friday - Jobless #'s are reported. We'll see then what is happening. It may take another 3-6 months for jobs to start returning but things will turn around.

You are soo full of sh*t. Before your almost daily pack of lies and deceit why don't you at least go to the New York Times and other newspapers and at least check before spilling your pile of sh*t pack of lies about the liberal news media not having that news story. Check the business page of the New York Times and it's right there, you liar. ALL the major newspapers have the story of productivity and jobs. ALL....do you hear me you pile of sh*t LIAR?

All wonder you can't decide if it's a good thing or not for Hailiburton to gauge the U.S. people out of an extra $300 million bucks, your brain is so full of sh*t and lies.

The only reason nobody calls you on your right wing lies and innuendos is nobody wants to fight but your lies and horsesh*t just get too deep sometimes you sorry ass liar.

Anybody interested.....there's a good book called "Lies and the Liars that tell them: A fair and balanced look at the right" by
Al Franken that I highly recommend. It's been the best selling book now for the 6th straight week. Damn good book.....and very humorous.

If it was true that it is better to be fighting over there than on our own turf then what the hell are we doing in Iraq? Somebody took a wrong direction in going to the turf of the terrorist we should be in Saudi Arabia, thats where over 85% of the terrorist have come from. From my count I have yet to see one Iraqi terrorist linked to 9-11 or the Cole bombing etc, they mainly come from Saudi Arabia, so this right wing shit about Iraq being the center of terror is full of crap. The Rush Limbaugh's (drug addict) of this world that continue to twist what is their sick reality of what is exactly going on make me sick, the more this war goes on the more it becomes quite apparant that this war is being fought for OIL, since the lie about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction has been exposed, the spinning of Iraq as the center of terror is false, we know where it comes from Saudi Arabia, why are we there? Is it because Saddam was a brutal dictator and killed many of his own people? If so, why did we become so concerned with only Iraq for brutal dictators? Why not El Salvador or Cuba where many have been slaughtered by brutal dictators? We dont care about those places because they are not sitting on the 2nd largest oil reserve in the world, they lack natraul resources thus their is no money to be made. If we truly wanted to stop terror Saudi Arabia would of been the first country to start with followed by Palestinian. If we were concerned with countries that have weapons of mass destruction then we should of went after North Korea, Iraq doesnt have any. Hey I voted for GW in 2000, but I can tell you know that all of this deceit from the current regime has made me sick and there is no chance I will vote for him again, I got sold on his "Uniter not Divider" comment, boy was I wrong. Everytime I see Dick Cheney opens his mouth it makes me sick, this guy flat out lies everytime he talks and has topped Bill Clinton as far as bad ethical behavior, and I hate Clinton. In 2004, I will be looking for a straight shooter that has no corporate ties, this may be a pipe dream but anything is better than what we have going now with the lies and deceit.

DJV,

I really don't think Bush is a bad guy but I do question his maturity to lead the country and think he would be in better shape if he let Powell have more influence. As far as Cheney this guy's ethics are worse than Bill Clinton's and thats hard to do, I have no doubts in my mind that Cheney is a crook, everything he does is shady and deceptive.

hmmmm Did I anger someone:) Al Franken :D

Auspice I would welcome your opinion on anything that you thought was a lie and might even change my opinion.

But to call someone a liar without an opinion of why you thought it was a lie is quite the Al Frankten way.

If you have an opinion I would like to hear it.. If you strike with name calling out of desperation,i can live with that also.

I have been called worse by Eddie :) but to his credit he has reasoning behind his retorts which are even at times convincing. Did I say that?? but--your form of reply leaves little to reasoning or debate other than a reply in same context and I would not consider taking that route.

Auspice, the right has their spin they put on everything. I know it is hard but don't let it get under your skin. That is what they hope to do. They can't defend this war on any grounds so they make things up. Now they get mad when the news media reports a death of a soldier! They want only happy news coming out of Iraq! I for one would like to hear a straight reason why we are there? And don't tell me because Saddam was a murder. Hell, it was Rumsfeld who propped him up for years and was in Iraq meeting with Saddam and gave him the ok to use the chemicals! And that crook Cheney did business with him when he was with Halliburton! I wonder why one of the blond bimbos on Fox News never mentioins that?

Dogs that Barks Shit wrote " DJV Found some more good news you won't find in the New York Times or other liberal media today."
___________

Give me a fukin' break. It was right on the business section of the New York Times. It was also in the business section of practially every online newspaper on the net. There was no media bias on this story. You just lied as usual. Your lies are so obvious that it's sickening. You're a fukin' liar with no conscience. It's the reason nobody can have an honest conversation with you. You don't know what honesty is. You're a right wing liar with no conscience. You pile of shit

I don't expect everybody to have the same view as I do on everything. I expect different views on politics. It's natural. It's even healthy. But I also expect honesty. Without that, there's no point in conversing. You have no honesty. You're an agenda driven liar. Got it retard?

Thanks StevieD. I know. The lies are just so sickening. I know you have to expect them but, it's almost painful to read them though. They just make me almost ill. Thanks again.

I don't really care where this conversation is going, but anyone who thinks that the right is the only people who places spin on news (which I am agreeing that they do), you are living in a dream world.

I am a Republican (by default basically--I don't agree with most of Democrats views), but I don't agree with everything that has happened.

I do know one thing: I hear all of you talking about supporting our troops, then bashing every decision that our leaders are making. NEWSFLASH: You're not being supportive. I think these kind of conversations, whether they are in a discussion board or in your local bar, constantly going ontears apart individual morale. People are always listening and you don't always know who it is. Could be a retired soldier struggling with what they've faced; could be anybody. Being supportive is just that; being supportive.

I will now step down off of my tiny soapbox.

Have a good night, everyone, and pray that our leaders are doing the right thing.

Well will try this again and see if I stay connected. We have many good debates on this subject. Fealings run warm some times. It's a tough situation we have good people dieing more and more each week. But lets try and not call each other names. I mean you dip or man your brains are slipping is one thing. But we need not go deeper then that. It's ok if anyone wnats to call me a SOB because I admitt to being one in my life one time or another. Am I a gainst war. Nope. Just want us to pick our fights with the right guys. And we didn't. And after some the things that went on with Clinton was hopeing for some honesty from the White House. I feal we are not getting it. And yes Cheney is a big part of that problem. And spinning that because im pissed were fighting the wrong folks. Into im not sticking up for the troops is just dead wrong. And throwing money away on a country with as much oil or more then we have and can pay the bill is dead wrong.

Dawgball I respect your opinion but I think if I do not agree with a war I must state my opinion. If someone didn't disagree with the status quo where would we be? I am not against our soldiers. I want the men who put our soldiers in harms way to be responsible and truthful. I do not feel that this adminestration has been, so I say so. I say so because I support our troops. Does the left spin things you bet they do too. But lets not pretend that the Right doesn't.

If you watched Hannity and Colmes during the war, it was hilarious. Hannity would, every day, be saying the Democrats were undermining the President by criticizing the Commander in Chief with criticisms that were either nonexistant or mild. Whereas Hannity, if you went back and looked what he was doing during Kosovo, was attacking Clinton in the harshest terms every day. Hannity deliberately meant to undermine Clinton by saying he's not following his advisors, we're running out of ammunition, he doesn't know what he's doing. He was allowing guests to come on and say this is the worst military operation in history, and he'd nod and say ,'uh-hmm

This is the sort of inequitable situation that the 'right' has set up and used. Castrate Clinton on TV AND in any other form of media for a true humanatarian military exercise, and yet demand total nazi like loyalty in this very questionable military exercise in Iraq. Nonsense. What rubbish. How do these right wingers look at themselves in the mirror without questioning their own pin-headed self righteous arrogance and piousness? Unreal. It's got to be some form of genetic depravation.
