On Tues.Nov 4th it was my fathers birthday. He was born Nov 4th,1913.He passed away on Nov.19th,1999.He was still subbing in his High School the week he died. He was 86.
I called my mother the nite before and told her I was going to drive down after school to Paramus and visit the cemetary and then take her out to eat.My mother is about an hour south of me. I got to the cemetary and said a few prayers.Talked to my father in my own way and cried a little.
I noticed the year he was born,1913.I always knew that but realized that I play lotto everyday and combo 139.It's my house number.I play it everyday,365 days of the yr.It's 3 bucks and a combo so any order wins 250.00. I hit it two times in the past 3 weeks after going almost a yr w/o winning.
But I noticed my aunt's tomb right above my fathers.I never realized she was born in 1931.I was mesmorized by the 139 numbers. For the past 4 yrs going to the cemetary I never associated my house number with my father and aunt yrs.
My mother lives about 10 minuts from the cemetary.I stopped at a 7-11 to buy the Bergen Record so I could maybe get more info on Rutgers-Conn this week. They had lotto there so I played a "wheel" for 3 bucks[same as combo in NY].I bought 2 tickets. One for my Mom and one for me.Cost $ 6.00.
I gave my Mom the ticket and told her about the 139 and Dad.
Had dinner, got home late.Went to bed.Got up in the morning.Looked at my local paper and lo and behold...139 came in, in New Jersey.
I couldn't believe it.Now NJ pays according to how many people play.NY is always 250.00. NJ sometimes pays 200,240,250,etc.It flutruates.
Now I work right on the NJ,Pa,NY border. All are 1 mile from each other. After school I go to my favorite NJ Citgo where they sell lotto.[NJ gas is 25 cents cheaper a gallon] The girl behind the counter is one of my former students.I give her my ticket and tell her I won.I go over to buy a soda and chips while she is putting the ticket in the machine.
I hear her yell "Mr Box...wow....you won $319.00."
Unreal.....Called my Mom and told her Dad sent a gift......
I'm pretty normal and level headed. But there is no one on this earth that can convince me my dad didn't send me message.
happy bithday pop... thanks.........and any info on the Rutgers +7 over Uconn would be appreciated.....
