A better question would be is why a team like Florida or Miami scheduling a team like Florida A&M or a another Div.2 school.

Why?

I guess you did not watch the game. It also was put on ESPN classic too. I also explained why USC lost to CAL in a post earlier that i know you should have read because you participated in that thread. If you really want to know, go look up the thread on madjacks.

FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea, I just saw 53, WOWWWWWW, thats the highest line I remember, but still, you gotta be on DRUGS to bet Baylor, let alone betting this game at all, its insane to ask anyone to cover 53, and its equally insane to trust your money on a team as bad as baylor, I dont care how many points they get, and I know many will take the points here b/c of the sheer number, Id warn you not to touch this game with a 10 foot pole you're betting on OU's 3rd and 4th stringers

nysports:

i agree. you gotta be a major major gambling junkie to bet that game. to think anyone has an "edge" in a game thats lined at 53 or whatever is nuts.

i dont care if you have bob stoops comes to your house and say "we're going to try and score 100", why would anyone bother with it? if baylor even scores ONCE, that means you have to score NINE TOUCHDOWNS to cover.

conversely, i dont care if bob stoops comes to your house and says "we're going to put our 2nd string in midway through the first quarter". theres still no value in baylor.

you're absolutely right gman,
with 40-50 games on a saturday, to pick that one, you gotta be an absolute idiot, on the other hand, even though I wouldnt do this either, if someone wanted the first half and saw a distinct edge in most likely the total and not the garbage spread I could see a bet, but NO way for the game, yet I still bet no matter what people will be on baylor b/c of the insane line, but they are jacking oklahoma higher and higher and have sucked the value right out of them, it apparently wasnt gone after osu because they still blew texas a&m's doors off -34, Im not an OU fan, but Ive found it astounding watching their scores this year

With ECU and Baylor covering in the only two occurences this year, 40+ point dogs are now 43-21 (67.1%) in the last 64 occurences. I doubt I'll find more value on any other game this weekend than Baylor.

ColoradoKid -- that may be Temple +35.5 over VPI in 1998. Also, UTEP beat BYU (I believe) as a similarly priced dog in 1985. Those are the two biggest I can think of, but there may have been a couple of big upsets since that Temple game that were comparable or even bigger.

I remember when I was a junior in highschool I would always go to the Missouri home games to work the concessions. One year when Miami came into town, I do recall them being way over 50pt favorites and blew us out of the sky and I do believe they covered. Also a few years ago, Virginia was favored like 50 + pts over Buffalo I do believe.
