A group of friends of mine are having a small fantasy league that consists of the SEC East only.

Rules:

Draft 10 players
Start 7 (1 center, 2 forwards, 2 gurads, 2 wild cards)
Scoring:
Points: 1 fantasy point for each point scored
Rebounds/Assists: 2 fantsay points each
Steals/Blocks: 3 fantasy points each

Games run from Monday to Sunday each week starting next week through the season.

I am up at the third pick and David Lee (Florida) and Matt Frieje (Vandy) are gone.

Any SEC experts in here care to show a little ranking of where they see players this year. I have a list made up, but I wanted more input if anyone cares to give it.

Thanks in advance!

Think you have to add Justin Reed, Christian Drejer, Damien Wilkens, and Kyle Davis to that list. Lawrence Roberts should have a big year at Miss St (transfer from Baylor) and Brandon Bass might put-up good numbers as a frosh at LSU.

Not going to have time to play but you guys may want to take a look at JC transfer Josh Gonner at SCar as a wild card. He is a 6'2" JR 2G. Here is a little bit about Josh from our school website...

Team captain his sophomore year ? Averaged 18.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and shot 82% from the line last season ... Led team to 24-8 record and the semi-finals of the Region 6 Playoffs, losing to eventual champion Coffeyville (73-66) ? Finished fifth in the conference in scoring, second in three point shots made (2.6 pg), third in free throw shooting and steals (2.6 spg) ... Named to the Jayhawk All-Conference first team his sophomore year in addition to being named all-region and named to the all-tournament team ... Led the west in scoring, steals and three pointers made ? Averaged 11.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game his freshman year ...

Scar is going to have big problems scoring this year (same old news) and Josh was brought in specifically to address that problem. He dropped 18 on an inferior Lithuanian exhibition team last week and was by far the best scorer on the floor. I can't make any promises b/c he has played in all of 1 game as a Gamecock. I can however tell you that we are going to need scoring from someone other than Carlos Powell and word is the coaches are going to give Josh a strong look. He has already been named our starting 2G.

Volfan, don't know if you are aware, but Ro Howell has been suspended for the first 10 games of the season so be careful with that pick. He should blow up when he returns though. He is so f*cking due it is ridiculous.

Good luck guys.

I was looking at Erik Daniels for my next pick. Azebukie didn't impress me with consistent numbers last year. I like him a lot as a player, but I will wait and see how he is used before drafting him. he will definitely go undrafted, IMO, in this league.

Major--I think this year's Kentucky team is going to be awesome! I think they are going to surprise a few folks this year.

Tre Kelly is an interesting pick from SCAR b/c he is a true FR playing a position occupied by two upper classmen (Gerrod Gerald & Michael Boynton). Granted that Tre balled at Dunbar in DC, and is supposed to be a true player, but he will probably not get as much PT as some other picks may. He did get some good PT last night and word is he looked good (potential wise). I'm heading out to see the Cocks play Idaho in about an hour, so I'll be able to give a better assessment after the game...not that it matters. :D

USC--from what I read, he was going to get the nod as the starter. Your information will be very helpful.

Thanks!

Dawg,

Tre Kelly didn't start last night, but DAMN that kid's got potential. His final line from last night was: 6 points (3-9/0-3), 1 R, 2 A, 1 TO in 21 minutes. Michael Boynton started, played 33 minutes, scored 8 points with 3 R, 4 A, and 2 TO.

Despite his weak numbers last night Tre showed tremendous promise. He plays like he grew up ballin in DC. He's got one helluva crossover and range, although he was off last night. My only concern with TK would be splitting minutes. From what I understand, Boynton will be our starter, although TK will definitely see some good playing time.

I think a player worth grabbing (at least as a wild card) is true SO Tarence Kinsey. Tarence is a 6'6" G (actually plays 1, 2, or 3) from Tampa, FLA. He led us in points last night with 21 on (7-12/2-3) shooting. The kid is a slasher/scorer with good range. He will start this year, and he will score this year. It will probably be between Tarence and Carols Powell for leading scorer....at least until Ro gets back. The good things about Tarence are (a) he is NOT afraid to take the ball to the hoop or shoot, (b) he has a ton of confidence, and (c) he was off the radar as a true FR last year, so not many people know about him this year. He has definitley improved his game from last year. He also had 7 boards and 1 assist last night.

I'll let you know if anything changes. GL

I definitely look forward to your input.

I think Tre will take over at his position at some point in time this year. He is GIFTED!

Thanks again!
