Nevada +17- over UConn
I know why the line is big.We all do.After their battle with Yale everyone feels the Huskies come out smoking. And I think they will. But UConn is one of those home teams I was talking about last week.
Lyr they are 14-2 at home yet ats 5-6.As an overall fav 13-4 yet only 9-8 ats.UConn does have a pattern over the past yrs.In 01-02.... 13-2 at home and 6-6 ats.Yr before 17-2 but 7-8 ats.
Throw in double digit favs just lyr..Conn -15 over GW,only won by 13.Miami +12 only won by 3,BC -10 lost outright,UMass +14 only won by 9.They did cover DD at home vs Vir Tech,Bonnies and Rutgers.
Nevada is terrible on the road.Lyr 5-11,yr before 6-8 and 1-12.But ats they are 9-7,8-6 and 6-5.
I think Calhoun does have his kids fired up.Yale is one of those smart ass teams that can drive you crazy. They run that flex offense with everyone moving away from the ball screening, etc.Nevada comes in to Storrs with a stud in Synder.paste.... from 2 nites ago................
Woflpacks biggest problem lyr was putting away teams and losing close games. But this yr this team is loaded. And with the best player in the WAC in Snyder. At 6'6 he does everything.led team lyr in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. And he is a gd but scores inside.Okeson is one of the best shooters in the WAC.Hill-Thomas can score and is 15th all time leading scorer. They have three 6'9 fowards and post players that can run the floor.
Nevada led the WAC in scoring. And with most of their top players back they will only get better.

Sorry I pasted the above.Wofpack need to play defense. And this is no Vermont.Ben Gorden flashing down the middle,Okafor on the bds,etc I think the Wolfpack can stay in this game.As DD dogs the Pack is .500.Thomas-Hill will give the Huskies problems. They have a big front line.Kemp the frosh contributed big time the other nite..And Synder can show everyone tonite why the NBA scouts love him. He's the 2nd best player out there.
Nevada is athletic and UConn could have trouble vs this kind of team.Conn can cover DDigits vs the Va. Tech,Rutgers, and Bonnies but the Miami'sBC's and the Pack tonite are athletic.

Minny +5.5 over Utah
Last 2 yrs Utah is 29-3 at home. And 10-14 ats.Unfortunalty Minny is not a good road dog either going 5-7 and 3-8.But Minny has one of my top 10 impact players that can change a team.Humphries.What a debut. The 6'8 kid can score from anywhere.Boy does Duke have to be upset losing him. With Bauer inside that really helps them on the glass.Hargrove is a nice 3 man that can slash.Minny was picked 9th in the B-10.Humprhies can elevate them himself.
Utah has Bogut.Aussie 6'10 who is also on my "impact list".He only had 15 pts and 16 bds the other nite[damn].Utahs gds didn't show up .I think this game can be close.I'll take the dog here and coat tail on Humphries.

Nevada +17 ...3 boxes
Minny +5.5.......1

I got rid of the Army Black nite avatar .I was waiting for my 0-11 Nites to win a game. But going to Hawaii to play the "bows" means another loss and its b-ball season.
Notice the "box and one" is set up.If you look closely you will see Wolfpack defense is boxing Okakfor and then they are..........

and again thanks for all the nice comments here...

Nevada

Knowing little about them, I thknk they are a risky play tonight. They just flew cross country and are facing UCONN, a team that couldn't be happy with their game vs Yale. I expect UCONN to come out very strong and play a game that can be expected of the number 1 team. I think Nevada's only chance for a cover is a backdoor cover late in the game. I think this game is very risky and I am going to stay away from it. I like your Minnesota pick, Utah doesn't seem to be playing very well and I could see Minnesota winning this game outright.

I'm goin' the other way, Box.

Uconn struggles with Yale.

Nevada cruises.

Nevada loaded. Best player in the WAC, one of the best shooters in the WAC, etc.

And the Linesmaker offers the Wolfpack a barrelfull of points?

I've had it handed to me too many times on these type games.

I like my chances with the Huskies -17.

U CONN...

U CONN...

I get the feeling uconn comes out runnin & gunnin first half.
Doesn't it seem a safe bet they'll cover in the first half?
Anybody have an opinion on this?

It's good to see different takes on these games.UConn has the talent to dominate anyone. But I had the line at -12-to -14.People pound the big schools all the time. And their records are terribe when the spread is envolved.
It's almost time.

rrc..Let me see what I can do about the hat
thunder..boy I miss you.Hope your doing well.
Vinnie...this "box" thing is new for me.I guess 10 boxes equals a love game.Na..12 boxes
I just did it this football season because I got tired of writting strong play..luv play...Med play..small lean...of course it has to do with how much I'm wagering. Also it makes me keep track of my positive boxes.

For those who are wondering......

Box IMHO is one of the better B-ball cappers around the boards.

Play attention especially when he is talking about Northeast teams. Really has his finger on them.

Good luck Box.

I'll take that win but it sure looked ugly.I don't understand sometimes the stupidty of coaches.Trent Johnson the Wolfpack coach.Your not Indiana on defense. On the out of bounds go zone.UConn scored 14 pts on there out of bounds.Three plays right under the basket.I think that happened to my teams maybe 10 times in 23 yrs. And fast break baskets uncontested. At least 16 pts.
And the out of bounds that Calhoun used is my favorite. You set up in a box.Your best shooter[Ben}takes the ball out.he throws strong side to the foward. The foward throws it to the gd on the sideline. The strong side passer screens Ben who goes under the basket, waits a second and runs to the baseline. He always open if the screener sets a good pick.Ben hit 2 or 3 on that play alone. And the funny part about it is ..it works better with a zone. But you defend it with a switch on defense.
Trent can watch the tape on the long plane ride home.Ben was in the ozone and the Pack had no one to stop him.I would of played some zone and overplayed Ben.He just had dribble penetration anytime he wanted.
Nevada has some talent but poor Basketball IQ.And it starts with the coach.Thats why they call there conf the WAC..got lucky with Calhoun being classy and letting the clock expire. You don't see that often...
I feel like I lost but I'm richer...
