Rutgers looks good. Shaky road squad, Cuse, off a disappointing home loss, travel to Rutgers with ND @ Carrier Dome on deck. Line already to 5.5.

...be careful with the Egg Bowl because as bad a Miss St is, this " is" their Bowl Game, the last game for the Seniors and Jackie Sherrill and they'd like nothing more than to knock off Ole Miss and any shot they have (however slight) at an SEC Championship in their last game on their home field, which will be televised nationally....

...always remember, if they look too easy, they usually aren't. ;)

...does Miss St. suck? yeah, probably one of the largest disappointments in the west...right next to Auburn. ...have they thrown in the towel for the season? yeah, at least it sure looks as if they have. ...do I think that St can beat them? no...not really, but on the other hand, I won't be laying the 19 either.

...as for the other game mentioned, I would also lean to arkansas +10.5, but since this is a home game for LSU, I may pass on that one too.

MC, I haven't had a chance to look at all of your leans, but some of the ones that initially jumped out at me were:

miami-ohio
ariz st
miami over pitt
rutgers
kentucky +10 or more
vir tech +1.5 ???
ga Tech +7.5
alabama

...good luck to everyone this week. :D

no way asu should be favored by 15.5 vs arizona. This line should be 7.5. both teams suck and its a bitter rivalry but Arizona would like nothing more than a win su. what does asu care for.. they have no heart and will lose this s.u

Rice has value

like this play
Rice+13' and Florida+7 in a 6 point teaser

note:

Miss State.. i stated last week they got a shot of an (remote)upset...whispers last week on campus was to sacrifice the Arkansas game to prep this game out with Ole Miss.
Their going to hit Eli with everything but the kitchen sink.
This is Sherrills last "hooray" and i think we'll see Miss state best game of the year, defensively, since Dunn left. Remember the Memphis game where they put up 38 points against a go defense at home, 34 point against oregon and 30 points against Vanderbilt who has a decent defense.

doubt i'll play this game..but if i do...I'll go with the 1st half and the points with the over 1st half teaser.

Cie Grant, I think Rutgers has a shot here depending on the status of their qb?

Taoist and JoeDe, Do you guys really think Miss State can hang in this game? I hate to back teams that have packed it in for the season and I thought that this team had packed it in about 6 weeks ago. If the team was motivated then I think they could say this is our bowl game and we want to send Jackie off on a positive note, but after Bama dismantled them at Starkville I wonder if this team will just mail it in?

Bgold and ststrl,
Agree with you guys that the play in this game is Zona or pass, ASU has been one of the biggest disappointments this season. Have to wonder just how motivated ASU will be for this game since they have no shot at a bowl?

Clemson
Athletic Director Dr. Terry Don Phillips stated that he met with head coach Tommy Bowden on Monday, and is in the process of negotiating a contract with the schools? head coach. Phillips expressed his desire to retain Bowden for the long term and is hopeful that the contract can be completed as soon as possible.

Maryland
The University accepted a bid to the Gator Bowl, on Monday, despite having one more game to play this weekend at Wake Forest. The Terps, however, can finish no worse than in a tie for second place with Clemson, and Maryland holds that tiebreaker due to the head-to-head meeting. If West Virginia wins its game versus Temple this Saturday and is not the Big East?s BCS representative, the Terps and Mountaineers will have a rematch of the regular season contest won by Maryland, 34-7.

North Carolina
Defensive backs coach Jim Fleming resigned from the team on Sunday after he and head coach John Bunting agreed that the team needed to head in a new direction, according to a news release on Monday.

Big East

Miami, Fla.
Senior starting strong safety Maurice Sikes suffered a broken bone in his right hand during this past weekend?s contest against Rutgers. Sikes is expected to play in Saturday?s showdown with Pittsburgh, but will have to do so with a cast on his lower right arm. Head coach Larry Coker was unsure, on Monday, if Sikes would get the start, or if sophomore Greg Threat would take his place in the lineup. ? Coker indicated that the coaching staff would prepare both Brock Berlin and Derrick Crudup to play in Saturday?s game, but the starting QB duties belonged to Berlin this week.

Big XII

Missouri
Head coach Gary Pinkel received a new five-year contract extension that will have him leading the Tigers through the 2008 season. Pinkel, who indicated that he plans to remain at Missouri for the remainder of his coaching career, signed the new deal this past Friday, but the contract became official on Monday. Pinkel is 16-18 in his three seasons at Mizzou and his new deal pushes his salary to a little over $1 million per season.

MAC

UCF
Athletic director Steve Orsini has contacted Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator George O?Leary about the head coaching vacancy within the program. Orsini was an assistant AD at Georgia Tech during the time O?Leary was the head coach of the Yellowjackets.

Mountain West

Colorado State
The Rams (7-5) accepted a bid, on Monday, to play in the San Francisco Bowl, which is played on New Year?s Eve. CSU will face a Big East opponent, which will most likely be Boston College, Syracuse, or Pittsburgh. ? Senior starting QB Bradlee Van Pelt, who suffered a broken bone in his throwing hand during Saturday?s win over UNLV, had surgery yesterday to repair the damage, and is expected to play in the bowl game.

Pac-10

Arizona
Athletic director Jim Livengood has targeted Dec. 1 as the date the university plans on announcing the new head coach. Among the finalists are interim coach Mike Hankwitz, Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops, Southern California offensive coordinator Norm Chow, Cincinnati Bengals linebackers coach Ricky Hunley, and New York Giants defensive coordinator Johnnie Lynn.

USC
Junior QB Brandon Hance has moved up to No. 2 on the depth chart following an injury to true freshman John David Booty in Saturday?s victory over UCLA. Booty suffered a fractured left wrist when he was sacked by star UCLA defensive end Dave Ball. Booty currently has his arm in a sling and is expected to miss at least six weeks.

SEC

Georgia
Junior starting WR Fred Gibson?s injury odyssey continued this past weekend, as he suffered a broken finger on his left hand during Saturday?s victory over Kentucky. Gibson will wear a cast on his left hand, but the setback will not keep him from playing in Saturday?s home game against Georgia Tech. ? Junior starting safety Sean Jones (shoulder stinger) and sophomore starting guard Bartley Miller (shoulder) have each missed the past two games, and head coach Mark Richt stated while Jones is likely to see the field on Saturday, Miller is still waiting on the arrival of a shoulder brace that would allow him to play.

South Carolina
Head coach Lou Holtz has dismissed four of his assistants following Saturday?s season-ending loss to Clemson, according to a local TV station. The coaching changes have not been made official, but defensive coordinator Chris Cosh, defensive backs coach John Gutekunst, offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo, and quarterbacks coach Todd Fitch were all apparently part of the changes, which Holtz forecasted the day after the Clemson defeat.

Sun Belt

Idaho
Interim athletic director Mike Spear and interim university president Gary Michael have contacted five candidates about the head coaching vacancy and hope to have a decision on a new head coach in the next seven to ten days. Mike Price, who is very familiar with the area, has stated his interest in the job, but admitted that there are some concerns that would need to be addressed. At this time, though, Price may not be one of the five candidates.

Mississippi at MISSISSIPPI STATE (Thursday night)...Still-plummeting MSU now 5-17 vs. spread last 1+Ys. Ole Miss is noteworthy 8-1 vs. spread last 9 in SEC action. Last game for retiring Bulldog mentor Jackie Sherrill.

Miami (Ohio) at CENTRAL FLORIDA (Friday)...M-O itching for this one following stunning 48-31 home upset vs. Central Florida LY (worst home defeat since '96). RedHawks felt they were emotionally drained from wild 36-34 loss at Marshall the week before.

Ohio at MARSHALL (Friday)..Ohio has been profitable DD road dog lately, going 11-4 in role since '00 (3-2 TY).

Toledo at BOWLING GREEN...Host has covered 4 straight in series. Toledo roared back from 24-14 halftime deficit by scoring 28 straight in eventual 42-34 victory vs. BG LY.

Texas at TEXAS A&M (Friday)...UT has controlled series lately, going 7-2-1 vs. spread last 10 vs. hated rival A&M. Aggies -- who committed 6 TOs in 50-20 loss LY -- just 6-17 vs. spread last 1+ seasons.

Nevada at BOISE STATE...Though BSU (just 1-3 vs. spread as host TY) has cooled off on its blue carpet, Broncos still a profitable 17-7 vs. spread in Bronco Stadium since '98.

Tennessee at KENTUCKY...UT has won 18 straight vs. rival UK, and Vols have covered 8 of past 10 in series.

Iowa State at MISSOURI...Mizzou sky high to snap 4-game series losing streak. Rejuvenated Tiger "D" especially jacked after taking blame for 45-38 loss LY. ISU, which piled up 602 yds., drove 92 yds. for TD with just 32 secs. left. Mizzou QB Brad Smith did more than his share, accounting for 318 yds. in 7-point defeat.

Notre Dame at STANFORD...Emotional game for ND?s stoic HC Willingham, who served as Stanford top man for 7 seasons before leaving for South Bend. Cardinal also emotionally-charged after somewhat misleading 31-7 blowout at ND LY. Stanford trailed just 7-3 in 3rd Q when QB Lewis threw 2 ints. returned for Irish TDs in a 3-min. period to break open competitive battle.

Virginia Tech at VIRGINIA...UVA offense looking forward to rematch after failing to reach double figures in 21-9 loss vs. hated rival VT year ago (worst effort of season). Cavs sr. QB Schaub chomping at bit after throwing for career-low 43 yds. in 12-point loss.

Temple at WEST VIRGINIA...Before WV?s 46-20 mashing LY, Owls had covered 6 of previous 7 in series.

ALABAMA...Starting sr. DT Childress hurt his ankle in 1st Q of 28-23 loss at rival Auburn.

ARIZONA...Tucson sources say Oklahoma d.c. Mike Stoops, younger brother of Sooner HC Bob, is the frontrunner to become Wildcats? new HC, though highly-regarded Southern Cal o.c. Norm Chow, Cincinnati Bengal asst. and former UA star LB Ricky Hunley, and Boise State HC Dan Hawkins will also be interviewed for the job.

ARIZONA STATE...Starting jr. SS Stewart (neck) will not play vs. rival Arizona. RS frosh TB Wade (concussion, flu; team-leading 653 YR on 5.5 ypc) DNP at Wash. State, but he is expected to be available against Wildcats.

ARKANSAS...Starting sr. OLB Gallon was kicked off team after he was arrested on DUI charges last week. Soph MLB Olajubutu sat out Miss. State game after he was also arrested on DUI charges, and soph MLB Moore (knee) has missed last few games. Olajubutu & Moore are questionable vs. LSU, as are starting jr. CB Carroll (ankle) & soph DE Murphy (knee).

BOISE STATE...Starting sr. WR Jerry Smith (knee; 26 catches for 509 yards & 5 TDs) did not make trip to Fresno last week. He is only the 2nd Bronco starter to miss a game due to injury this season. BSU clinched at least a share of WAC title with 31-17 win over Bulldogs and are expected to accept an invitation to Humanitarian Bowl, played at their home stadium, later this week.

BOWLING GREEN...Starting sr. MLB Hewitt (ankle), one of Falc?s top tacklers, DNP at Ball State. Neither did starting soph WR Sharon (40 catches for 614 yards & 6 TDs), who was attending a family funeral.

CENTRAL FLORIDA...Since the first week of November, eight players, including starting sr. QB Schneider, have been suspended and HC Mike Kruzcek has been fired. A.D. Orsini is reportedly interested in Minnesota Viking d.c. George O?Leary as possible successor to Kruczek. Orsini was assistant A.D. at Georgia Tech when O?Leary was HC of Jackets. O?Leary left to take over at Notre Dame, but he was forced to resign before assuming position after admitting to falsifying parts of his resume. Other possible candidates include Maryland o.c. Bill O?Brien, East Carolina o.c. Rick Stockstill, Auburn d.c. Gene Chizik, Georgia d.c. Bill Van Gorder, and Stanford o.c. David Kelly.

CINCINNATI...Jr. RB Hall, Bearcats? most productive & versatile offensive weapon, has been severely limited over the last month by a nagging ankle injury. Hall had no receptions and only 5 carries for 26 yards in 21-16 loss at Memphis last week.

EAST CAROLINA...Starting jr. QB Desmond Robinson (ankle) has missed last 2 games. RS frosh Pinkney has completed 29 of 61 for 272 yards with 1 TDP and 2 ints. in those 2 games.

FLORIDA ST...Mercurial jr. WR Thorpe (team-high 51 catches for 994 yards and 11 TDs) broke his leg late in 50-44 double-OT home win over N.C. State and is thru for season.

GEORGIA TECH...Regardless of outcome vs. Georgia this week, Jackets are expected to be invited to Humanitarian Bowl to face Boise State on its home field. True frosh QB Ball says, "I sure wouldn?t want to go to Boise, but if we have to settle for Boise, we?ll just go win up there." Star sr. WR Jonathan Smith has returned a punt for a TD in each of the last 2 games.

IOWA STATE...Juco QB Terry got his 3rd straight start last week at Kansas, but he was benched in 2nd Q before returning in 4th Q. Terry, RS frosh Flynn, and jr. Love were a combined 10 of 28 for only 79 yards with 2 ints. in 36-7 loss to Jayhawks, Cyclones? 9th loss in a row straight up & vs. spread. ISU had only 176 total yards, 125 of those coming in 1st Q.

KENTUCKY...Top WR sr. Abney (foot; team-high 51 catches this season), who had NCAA-record 7 return TDs in 2002 and another one earlier this year, starting soph CB Bo Smith (groin), starting sr. CB Burress, jr. DB Flowers, and starting sr. RT Hall (concussion) were all hurt during 30-10 loss at Georgia.

LOUISVILLE...Top RB soph Shelton (neck) has missed last 2 games and will not play in reg.-season finale at Cincy. Jr. Gates ran for 140 yards & 4 TDs and caught 2 passes for 91 more yards as Cardinals had school-record 779 yards in 66-45 home win over Houston last week. Versatile blue-chip true frosh Bush, who has seen time at QB, WR & RB this season, chipped in with 137 yards rushing & 2 TDs.

MEMPHIS...Star soph RB DeAngelo Williams (knee), who leads nation in all-purpose ypg, hurt his knee in 3rd Q vs. Cincy, will not play this week against So. Florida, and will probably miss Tigers? bowl game. Versatile soph WR Avery (11 TDs, 46 catches for 728 yards) DNP in 21-16 home win over Bearcats and also probably won?t return this season due to his own knee injury.

MIAMI-FLORIDA...Starting jr. C Rodriguez broke his leg vs. Rutgers and is thru for season. Struggling Cane offense had only 93 yards passing & 13 first downs in 34-10 home win over Knights (Miami led just 6-3 at halftime). QB Berlin said after the game, "Punting is good for us, to let our defense get back on the field and make plays."

MISSOURI...Starting soph S Simpson (suspension) DNP at K-State. Starting jr. LB Kinney sprained his ankle in 1st half of 24-14 loss to Wildcats.

NEBRASKA...Lincoln insiders report A.D. Pederson is preparing to "offer" HC Solich another job within the department, with a group of Husker boosters prepared to foot the bill to buy out the beleaguered Solich?s contract.

NEVADA...Big-play sr. WR Fleming (concussion; 23 ypc) is not expected to return for season finale at Boise State, and neither is starting soph LB Logan Carter (knee).

OHIO...Star jr. ILB Chukwuemeka (knee) DNP vs. Miami-O. and is not expected back for Marshall.

PITTSBURGH...Sr. TB Miree returned to action at Temple after sitting out previous 7 games with a nagging heel injury. Miree ran for 188 yards and 2 TDs in 30-16 win over Owls. Panthers had averaged only 74 ypg rushing in their previous 6 outings.

SOUTH FLORIDA...Starting jr. QB Banks left late in 1st half vs. UAB after hurting his back. Raw RS frosh Julmiste was 6 of 16 for only 74 yards with no TDP and 3 ints., but he did run for 73 yards in 22-19 home loss to Blazers.

UAB...RS frosh QB Falany got the first start of his collegiate career last week at South Florida. Falany was 10 of 15 for 128 yards with 2 TDP and no ints., but was forced to leave game after being sacked in 4th Q. RS frosh Chris Williams, who had started previous 3 games after top QB soph Hackney was lost to season-ending injury, threw an int. on his first pass attempt. But on next series, Williams completed 2 of 5 for 39 yards while leading Blazers 55 yards in just over a minute to set up game-winning 42-yard FG with only 9 seconds left in 22-19 road upset of Bulls. Long snapper jr. Newton broke his leg in 3rd Q.

UNLV...Starting jr. QB Nantkes (groin) sat out vs. Colorado State. True frosh Steichen, whom Rebs had hoped to redshirt, was 12 of 26 for 172 yards with no TDP and no ints. in 24-23 home loss to Rams.

UTEP...Starting RS frosh QB Jordan Palmer (back) left in 1st Q at Rice. Starting jr. RT Espinosa was also hurt early in 45-14 loss to Owls. Starting soph DE Brandon Johnson (suspension) DNP.

VIRGINIA TECH...Starting sr. DE Nathaniel Adibi (broken thumb) & starting jr. DT Kevin Lewis (sprained knee) DNP vs. Boston College.

WYOMING...Top RB sr. Armah dislocated his shoulder after only 3 carries vs. New Mexico. Starting sr. WR Floyd (sprained knee) was also hurt in 26-3 home loss to Lobos

Your early leans

Your early leans

I looked at your early leans and couldn't believe that there was one I would go against. Colorado looks real good as I feel the controversy in Nebraska will be a major distraction. Virginia Tech has not played well on the road. Hawaii with Alabama's injuries and nothing to play for coming off of Auburn. Hawaii wins outright.
Had a question for you on the TCU game. Looking to play on SMU catching the points after TCU's big loss. Teams that go this far in the season undefeated that finally do lose are usually a good go against. Can they hang with them?

Good luck on your plays this week.

Greed:

Agree with you on Huskers, definitly a no play for me, Solich is toast the question now becomes who does Nebraska hire? I think that they have to go outside the program and get a young coach who has a fresh offensive perspective such as Urban Meyers, Telford at Cal or Gary Patterson at TCU. I wonder though if they go outside the staff will they lose Bo Pellini the guy has really reinspired the Neb defense.

Smu-TCU

I will more than likely pass this game, TCU is probably a little down but SMU has the worst offense in the country and I cant back them to cover a spread.
