How do you open up port 23 (telnet) on XP ?

can't ya just go to start.......then to run.....and then type

telnet

then press enter :shrug:

Type "telnet://" (minus the " obviously) into your web browswer and hit return. It's the easiest way. Works for me.

sorry guys...i misinterpeted...

i meant have port 23 open..not open up the actual software "telnet" - i want to be able to access port 23 from school...i know its not safe, but i wanna test it...im curious

If you want to access your system remotely, I would recommend port 22, using SSH ... Secure SHell can provide you the functionality with much lowered risk to your system.
If your box is Linux or UNIX based, then SSH is built in ...

On the other hand if you are running Windoze, it'll cost ya.
