Nice action if you can get it.

I was just talking to my sister and to my surprise her fiancee books. Only NFL and only relatively small action (300 max, depending on the player). Here's the kicker. He only accepts sides, totals and 2 team parlays and on totals bets, all ties lose. He actually tried to explain this to me as being the same way they do it in Las Vegas.

You know, when I hear stories like this, it just makes me wonder why I never tried to book. I mean, I know it is a pain in the ass collecting from deadbeats all the time but if this guy is writing 3 or 4 dimes in action from people novice enough that they are willing to bet into rules like that, it is like he has a license to print money.

I had a local that used to do that. The analogy was that you were betting that a game went over or under a number and when it pushed you were wrong and lost your wager.

I got so mad I went to the parlay cards for my action with the 5-1 3-teamers.

ya think that's bad.........see what those British books do on rugby point spread bets

say the spread is -3.0..............and the game ends 6-3 for the fav......guess what.....BOTH SIDES LOSE :nono: :nono:

the only bet that wins is the TIE bet...........could you imagine that here in North America

At my local watering hole one guy runs parlay cards with

2.5 to 1 for 3 teams
3.5 to 1 for 4 teams
5.0 to 1 for 5 teams

insane. but he gets plenty of people playin $50 to $100 a weekend. I would estimate hes doing between $1000 and $1500 a week.

He runs them at a $10 minimum.

His totals are ties lose as well ,but his are like this

under 43 or over 44

so your really really getting screwed.

I have thought about it many a night about trying it one season.

One of my locals in college charged double juice on parlays.

A $50 losing parlay cost you $60. I never understood why people play those wagers. They had some justification when I asked them about it, so I'm sure there were plenty of suckers that kept playing.

I guess all of these examples show how badly folks want action. It is too bad some of them don't get online and sign up with a low limit online book instead. They would probably be better off.

Ain't that the truth! Local here charges 6-5 on totals, but you do push on a tie, he's all heart that guy.

On the course!
I had a local who took the money on a tie on totals. If you tied on a side, you owed the juice.

Think of how many ties you see in a year.................

such bs. i would not play. i booked a few years ago and i never did that crap. futhermore, if a guy was a reg and was not real good i would let a push on a teaser count as a push vs a loss. regularly i would leave off juice for guys some weekends to encourage action. rarely did i have a losing week. booking = greed. but taking extra is complete shat. i would find a different book.

I once used a guy that used 2 different numbers for totals. He might have Oakland OVER 46 and Oakland UNDER 42. I couldn't tell him where to shove it fast enough.
