Navy -21 over Army
This is w/o a doubt my favorite game to capp including basketballs games.I'll breakdown the teams and then some side stories.
Navy is loaded on offense.Not going to give stats but they are ranked No1 in rushing,have broken record after record on the ground.Army is ranked 117th in defense,almost has bad on offense.Lost 12 in a row,23 of last 24 and 45- of last 50.Been outrushed 2,381 to 743.Candeto has more yds then the entire Army team on the ground.I could go on and on about stats that will knock you off your feet.
But this game comes down to not last yrs 58-12 whipping,the Commander in Chief trophy, history,rivalry,kidnappingsetc but about matchups on the field.
QB..Candeto is outstanding.Scoring the 6 tds lyr was an awesome feat but he runs the wish "textbook" style.
Dahman is so over his head.He has thrown for over 2,000 yds but only 11 tds and 17 Int's and over 30 near Int's.He still has trouble the the center snap and fumbles 2 or 3 a game.Cannot throw long except for fade passes to 6'6 Alexander.
Running back..Eckel is unreal at FB.Watching him vs Notre Dame made me a believer.Watch him today.Roberts and Lane just go foward.What an attack...
Jones is armys only back.They have no one behind him.They fill it with all kids from other positions.He did gain 600yds but has no backups.
OL...Navys opens holes for Candeto and co.They rushed for 3,550 yds.No 1....
Army biggest proble.Hurt all yr.Cannot pass protect or open holes.Musical chairs on the line.In game 13 and they stil cannot snap the ball.
Wr...With army pass offense they have 6'6 Alexander who is great.But all of armys 3 WR attack are possession recievers.No one can break one.All short crossing patterns except for alex's fade pass.
Navy WR are more dangerous because they only throw the ball 5 or 7 times a game but their wide open.
DL..Navy weakest link.But have played better and have stepped up and played tough vs god teams.
Army DL is hurting big time.Brathwaite there best player is playing today on guts and desire.Ankle is wrapped so much he's wearing 2 different size shoes.Beasley shoulder is hurting and I don't think he can play.Lyr they couldn't stop Navys OL who open holes up as big as the Lincoln Tunnel.See the same thing this yr.Army DL lyr was much better.
LB's..All 3 Army LB's have over 100 tackles each.That tell you something,right.They are the best but get tired.By the 3rd qrt today they will start missing tackles.Army will put 8 guys in the box to stop the "wish".
Navys LB's are avg.
DB's...Stat wise Navy is 4th best in the country in pass defense.But those stats are misleading.But they are a solid unit.
Army's are the worst.Get beat all the time.Are slow.Are decent tacklers but vs the pass they are in trouble.Brewer is a stud back there but he's by himself.
SP teams...Army has White who is excellant.Navy FG has missed only 1 FG all yr.
Coaches..P.Johnson is outstanding.Berry is gone and Mumford is coaching his last game.Navy hated Berry lyr.Thats one of the reasons they blew them away.But mumford is a Berry "boy".So PJ won't show any mercy.
The weather is a factor.see other peoples updates.But I see Navy having a bigger advantage in the snow,rain and sleet.Army cannot run the ball.Dahman weighs about 170 pounds.The freak'in wind can blow him away.Nevels might play some to because he can run the ball.But Dahman will be effected much more by the weather conditions then Candeto.Now I'm sure there might be more fumbles running the "wish" but Dahman will have more from the center snap alone.
The line has dropped from -23 to -21.I know what that means too.Money is coming in big on Navy but the wisguys are pounding Army....be back in a minut..
