2 units.......george washington (+8.5) over gonzaga

i think this one will be much closer than people think. zags coming off two emotional games (vs in-state rival washington on the road, and then maryland yesterday afternoon)

not only is george washington playing fairly well and has this as a pseudo-home court game, but gonzaga has had to go to the whip to pull away in the 2nd half of their L2 games. both were very tight at the half. not sure if zags are in the best position to lay almost-DD all the way across the country with gonzaga playing essentially their 3rd road game in 5 days, especially coming off of two big name opponents.

are these teams playing on a 40-foot court with baskets being counted as 4 points apiece? jeez. nice defense.

two perspectives:

the pro-gonzaga perspective says that the zags have destroyed their last 2 opponents in the 2nd half, turning close games into DD blowouts. 2h line just requires them to win SU, but im not in a hurry to lay it

however

the anti-gonzaga perspective says how in the world can you lay 6 2nd half points with a team that has made absolutely no committment to stopping anyone today (letting up 52 1h pts)

gun to my head says gonzaga wins this game somehow. theyre deeper than GW. but i like the spot im in but still a long way to go, given zags propensity for ripping teams a new ass recently in 2nd halves

as good as GW is playing, they still need to lock people down on defense, otherwise their great 1h effort will go for shit. ive seen too many teams get off to fast starts, only to settle for jump shots in the 2h and get blown out.

GW needs to stay aggressive. a definite pass

thanks for response

north carolina played this way 1st and then shots stop dropping 2h for g. mason and they got blown out...
i don't see zags blowing g.w. out either but noticed talented, deep teams can play with inferior teams 1h tire them out or get them in follow trouble and then lay the wood 2h!
