I agree that it may not be the best matchup possible for the game, but with both teams being in FL already, the Orange bowl was probably thinking of a sellout before anything else.

Let's see what UM's allotment of tickets is, and how quickly they sell that allotment. UM sold out one home game this year - to instate rival UF. The Orange Bowl committee is not stupid enough to think that UM, by themselves, can sell out that game. Most people would rather see UM-UT or UM-OSU, but UM-FSU will sell more tickets. It is that simple.

Think you guys are missing something here - Fiesta Bowl took OSU first so the Orange didn't have any choice.

It sucks because the matchups the other way would have been more intriguing but with the way FSU travels (compared to OSU), its hard to blame them.
