USC could have just beaten the lowly Cal Bears and we wouldnt be having these conversations. The fact is all 3 teams have 1 loss. ANY method to determine which team deserved to be in would be arbitrary at best.

Why you are right that USC should of beat Cal, they are not lowly afterall they are a bowl team. Should LSU of beat FLA and Homa KSU both those teams have 3 losses? Bottom line the system stinks, this may be a blessing if there is enough outcry about this flawed sytem then maybe at last we can get a playoff system, at this point I would even accept a 4 team playoff. The BCS is in trouble and this just adds more fuel to the fire, something they did not need with Scott Cowan leading the smaller conferences on a mission to destroy the BCS.

The system does need an overhaul. After the selection show i saw an interview with Mike Tranghese and he said that when they originally came up with the BCS they thought about this possibility and spent some time trying to find a way around it. But they couldnt agree on anything. He seemed resigned to the fact that an overhaul is needed once again.

In reality the BCS is a joke. FOr the teams that arent 1-2 it means nothing. Who cares if youa re in a "BCS" bowl? it means the same as any other non-BCS title bowl. So i agree the system as is, is very flawed.

And my point wasnt to knock USC. I am not saying they are better or worse than the other 2 teams just that they have to deal with being the odd team out. I would be saying the same thing to Oklahoma fans or LSU fans. All college teams know going in that if you lose a game you are not guaranteed a chance at a national title.
