Why USC should be thanking OU

First of all if OU does not lose USC has no chance at a NC because LSU would have moved ahead of them; at least now USC has a chance for a split and I say chance because I will be all over Michigan; I think they run and pass wild over USC soft defense.
And as far as people saying OU does not deserve to play since they did not win their conference well if they were in the BIG 10 they would have already won their conference even if they lost to kstate in the finale due to the fact that Kstate lost 2 conference games to OK state and Texas so until there are no confe champ games or everone has one; people need to shut their trap about that talk because the system is not fair in the 1st place.
People say OU got dominated well just watching the game; I did not see that if you look at the final score it looks that way but OU went up and down the field on KState and came away with nothing on 2 1st and goals; Kstate big played them to gain most of their yardage; now I am taking nothing away from Kstate; they deserved the win. But the reason OU is number 1 in the BCS is they take into consideration the entire season; OU lost in a champ game that USC does not even have to do; to a team that has 11 wins; more wins thany anyone else in the country next to OU and will play in a BCS bowl; USC lost to a terrible CAL team and LSU lost to a very good FLorida team the only reason USC is number one is because OU lost in the last game of the season; we all know they would be number one right now in both polls if they lost before USC. Good luck to USC; they will need it I just dont see USC stopping Michigan at all. As far as the real NC game; should be really good; OU has a purpose now; and LSU defense is probably just as good as OU's so will be a really good defensive struggle.

Sorry, I may be a little worked up over being bent over by the BCS, but this is the same D that wouldnt be able to stop that powerful Iowa O last year. We all know how that ended up.

Now call me a homer & bet anyways.

but

but

k st buggered o.u. in their biggest game of the year....

not trying to get into a pissing match,but,o.u. folded when it could have cemented the deal and none of this would have mattered...

losing a tough game would have been acceptable....getting hammered like that was a killer....

they were obviously looking past k.st....i don`t know how that`s possible, but apparently, that`s what happened....

what`s

what`s

your point?......look,i`m no k.st.,oklahoma,usc or lsu fan...obviously you are an oklahoma fan.....

and i feel your pain....but,they wet the bed in the biggest game of the year...it`s unfortunate....i personally believe they are a better club than k st....

but they lost badly at the wrong time...

unless you`re the bcs.....

they`re in the title game....you should be happy...instead of trying to justify their selection...

just be happy....and g.l. vs lsu...

i am not trying to justify anything; i am fan of college football; and i look at things objectively; anyone that watched the game know the final score was not indicitive of the final score; ou close to 400 yards of offense; i am not taking anything away from kstate; all i am saying is you have to look at the entire season; sos; who they lost to into consideration instead of looking at one game and deciding; lsu and usc should be playing in the nc game; apparently vegas thinks ou is the better team or they would not have been favored against lsu or usc; i have always said from the getgo that that is why they play the game; college football has more to do with emotion; coaching and momentum; than talent

That was OU's least important game of the year. OU had their place in the national championship game sewn up.

guys

guys

i didn`t mean to intrude in the o.u. lovefest here..and i`m sorry if i pissed some o.u. fans off....not my intent......my bad....and some solid commentary and arguments...not trying to argue that o.u. didn`t have a near great season.....they certainly did...

and honestly, best of luck in the lsu game....

btw....mw......it`s a little absurd to describe the game that involved winning the big 12 title and having your team considered one of the all time greats as "the is the least important game of the season"....

that`s the point i was trying to make....o.u had a great season....was on the verge of being considered for true greatness among the elite teams in history........there are no least important games in this type of season......particularly for stoops....by any measure,a superior college coach....i was disappointed in their performnce vs k.st... was totally unexpected for me......

and if you peruse the internet sports forums, most unbiased fans wanted to see usc/lsu.......the timing and nature of the k st loss really tarnished o.u.`s persona for the average, unbiased fan....

that`s all i`m saying...

best of luck,guys...

Hardly. If you're playing for conference championships, that's the biggest game of the year. If you're playing for national championships, that's the one game that matters least. The Sugar Bowl bid was sewn up.

As for your argument about OU playing to be considered an all-time great team, that's immaterial. That would make the game important, but it's completely irrelevant to the game's relative importance.

sounds like

sounds like

a little spin going on there,mw....o.u. was without question considered the best team in the country prior to the k.st. debacle....now,they have to beat lsu to be voted #1 by a computer.....on the other hand,if usc beats michigan, the writers and coaches will most likely vote them #1.....and it`s sad...i for one thought o.u. was hands down the best club in the country....

not the anticipated scenario prior to the ks.st. loss....

but,we can agree to disagree....one thing i think we will all agree on is that the bcs is an abomination...should be known as the B.S.c.........

btw....congrats on clemson`s resurgence..really came on strong down the stretch...g.l.

Hey Gary,

Too bad Baylor can't play USC in the Rose Bowl. That is about the caliber of team they are used to playing. :nutkick

I am sure they could win over them........maybe. The bears ARE pretty tuff though!!!:thefinger

Say whatever you have to so you can feel better about your team backing into the Sugar. I don't understand the bashing of west coast football. If it's so bad why doesn't anyone want to come out here and play? What have they got to lose?

i would argue losing to a 6 loss team is backing in not losing to the 8th ranked team in the nation or losing by double digits at home to a 3 loss team
