while at louisville ,smith`s teams allowed an average of 358 rushing ypg (5.7 ypc) and 24 first downs per game to option teams going 3-3 su and 2-3 ats....

this may or may not correlate to this game at all....

personally,i hate jamaal lord and refuse to bet on a team that he qb`s.....

mich st hasn`t seen an option this year....and i don`t think that nebraska has seen this type of passing attack(colorado?.....not the same caliber,imo)....

can`t spend money here....i will take a look at the under....g.l.

I saw that stat also but I think he has better athletes at MSU as opposed to Lou. so I don't know how much I would rely on that. Also who was his DC then and now?

sorry but i think john l. smiths ats record and rushing yards given up against option teams while at louisville has no correlation whatsoever as to what might happen in this game. did all of his players from that defense transfer to msu? sorry if i sound like an a-hole but why would this matter? do you happen to have john l smith's ats record on monday nights in domed stadiums when playing against an option team that just got their head coach fired? :thefinger

i hear ya`...... that`s why i said that i wasn`t sure if the stat was a good indicator......to many variables....

but,m.s.u. certainly hasn`t seen the option.....and i don`t think nebraska has seen such an extreme passing attack.....

but, both are pretty much one-dimensional offenses...should make defensive game planning a little simpler...

gw-for the exact reasons you list, I'm looking closely at the over 48.5, Michigan State hasn't played the option. And has yielded big points to rank teams (Michigan Ohio State and, whiskey). Nebraska has yielded big points to diversified offenses (Texas & Colorado & Missouri) yet the total keeps falling. May play over.

I am with you GW, hard to cap. I really liked MSU earlier when the Neb players won't practicing due to not having a coach but now they are "playing" for Bo, so who knows. I have an open tease so i might put MSU in it and then bet Neb straight and try and middle. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the stat GW. I don't care if it does or doesn't correlate 100% to today's game - any info/history on the teams coach is good info. I don't know why others would come in to your thread and bash you. Oh well.
I agree with you that this game is very difficult to handicap. I'm a "Big Ten" guy and from what I've seen, MSU gives up alot of points even to teams with weak offenses like Ohio State. I also read a stat that Nebraska was 3-0 in that stadium. Adding to that, I believe 90% of that stadium is going to filled with nebraska fans I'm going with Nebraska -3. Good Luck to you!

Wolver - wasn't talking about you. I did read your post though and don't think you should try to middle this game (Just my opinion).
My two cents...
I know Michigan State does not equal Colorado but I do believe Nebraska is going to get the same result. Nebraska -3. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Thanks to both of you. Hard to get a read on this. I think I am leaning to the over. Liked the under most of the week, now I don't know. I am a Big 10 follower so I want MSU to win, just don't know if they can. Best to just watch and wait for Big Blue to end the BCS controversy when they beat USC.

nobodys bashing anyone i was just giving garden a hard time on his worthless stat;) as for me i like mich st. ive seen nebraska play quite a few times this year and am not impressed at all. the only thing im worried about is msu not facing an option team all year so im not sure how they will play against it. im sure they have been practicing agaisnt it for the past month and will be ready. msu has a very ballanced attack and this blackshirt defense is nothing special. i think smoker will have a big game as this nebraska secondary can be thrown against. good luck to all and garden i hope you dont take offense to my earlier comments as i was just giving you a hard time. i always look for your posts and you really seem to know your stuff. go spartans.

Defenses not good enough for a line now at 48.5.......these teams can easily get into the mid 20's......I would not venture a guess as to which team wins, either one wouldn't surprise me, but I do solemnly believe there will be enough big plays in this one to bust the total.....

Just my opinion.....

Over 48.5 for me.......

no prob,ag........it`s an open board...everybody can say whatever the hell they feel.....

i would like to ask some of the big ten guys their thoughts on the over 56 in the michigan/usc ballgame........

personally,i hit the over hard.....and will off some on the under as it moves....i know these are good defenses....but,these teams seem to score on everybody.........both balanced....loaded with weapons....and good triggermen.....

in the beautiful so.cal. weather.....usc with an axe to grind with the bcs....and michigan with plenty of motivation to upset the applecart.....

to me,this game is the most interesting of the lot.....

under came in easy

under came in easy

and that nebraska defense just flat out destroyed the one dimensional michigan st attack......and threw for 162 to boot...

congrats to bo pellini....they played with alot of intensity....

g.l.,tomorrow....

gw,

good call on the under.

mich. st looks to pass too much. a team needs some type of running game to keep the defenses off balance. in a few years smith will have his type of players & they should perform better.

on to the next set of games.

good luck
