I want to buy a plasma tv, but have no idea what I'm looking for.

42" or 43" size, hdtv compatiable(sp). 3800 to 5K price range.

Thanks in advance

I hear that if you buy a plasma TV you don't need to play video games or watch the shopping channels or watch ESPN ever because the image is easily burned on the screen.

If you do any of the above you should buy a LCD screen. I hear it's the same except for the image burning problem.

Check it out before you blow that kind of money. I don't know for sure, but it is what I've heard.

check out the gateway 42 inch HD TV.. its right around 3800..

that burned image stuff is a bunch of crapola..

ive worked at Gateway for years.. our plasma tvs are on all day every day.. and i have yet to see them have a single problem..

the LCD technology is great for about "30" tvs and below.. but they loose their quality getting any bigger than that.. not to mention they are twice the price..

trust me i stare at these TVs all day long.. they are very cool..

in fact i will be purchasing one very soon for myself

The Gateway is a dandy- and unless you put an image such as a video game on and leave it locked up in the same screen for a couple days, the screen will not burn.

Agree about the burn in being total crap. I dont have a plasma yet, but for the last 2.5 years have had a 47" panasonic hdtv. I have XBOX and PS2 on it, and havent had one problem. It is rear projection so I do use some common sense, like if I push pause on a game/movie and am going to be gone more than 20 mintues, I turn off the TV, but I know I have had Tivo or XB paused for good lengths of time and havent had anything bad happen.
