Larry Ness:

It's probably not possible to pit two teams featuring more divergent styles than Tex Tech and Navy. The Red Raiders are a scoring machine with BJ Symons setting an NCAA single-season record for passing yards along with throwing 48 TD passes. Navy led the nation in rushing with a mind-boggling average of 326.1 ypg, as QB Craig Candeto ran and passed for more than 1000 yards, FB Kyle Eckel ran for almost 1200 yards and RBs Lane and Roberts averaged 13.2 and 9.3 ypc respectively! Tex Tech allowed almost 36 ppg on defense and it seems impossible to believe that they will stop Navy's option. As for Navy, this year's defense allowed almost 100 ypg less than last year's unit as well as allowing 15 ppg less! Against the pass in 2003 Navy allowed just 154 ypg and only NINE TD passes but they've never faced an offense like this. While Tex Tech has been a bowl regular the last decade going to eight bowls, they've won just TWICE! For Navy, 3-30 the previous three seasons, this year's 8-4 team has the Midshipmen in a bowl game for the first time since 1996! Navy ended the year with SEVEN straight ATS wins and has covered FOURTEEN of its last 17 games! 10* Navy.

Marc Lawrence 5* College Bowl Winner- Tuesday $50.00
Marc Lawrence has now won FIVE STRAIGHT BOWL GAMES and is 11-1-1 on his 5* College Bowl releases since 1990. His annual 5* College Bowl play for 2003 goes Tuesday night and is backed by a TRIPLE PERFECT winning situation. Get it now on a pay only after you win basis? don?t miss out! 5* Washington State.

Big Al McMordie:

The Cougars were upset by in-state rival Washington in their last game, and off that upset loss, Washington St. falls into a super College Bowl system of mine that is 27-4 ATS since 1980, including 1-0 already this season with Memphis over North Texas. This system involves playing on certain Underdogs that lost outright as a Favorite in their last regular season game, provided they weren't favored by more than 10.5 in their last regular season game. There's one other parameter that makes this system pop to 27-4 ATS (which will remain for my eyes only), and we can improve our 27-4 stat to a perfect 14-0 ATS if our opponent (here, Texas) is off a double-digit win. With the Longhorns indeed off a blowout 46-15 win over Texas Tech, let's take Washington State tonight as a 4* Play. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.

Damit!!

Every tout has Navy, Washington St. and Fresno St.

Concensus sites favor their opponents at 67%,64%, and 51%.

Is today the major anti-consensus play? I don't know but I really like Navy to hang in there with TT.

GL Mizzou and thanks for posting!!!

3* TEXAS

The Longhorns were forced to switch gears this season after getting obliterated against Oklahoma. Following the 65-13 loss Chance Mock was benched in favor of the versatile Vince Young who rushed and passed for more than 1000 yards.

Young has already made it clear he?s ready, should the Cougars shut down the run, to chuck it. Washington St. brings in the #4 rushing defense in the nation allowing less than 90 YPG and holding 9 different opponents to less than 100 yards.

Should 1200 yard man Benson not get it going on the ground for the Horns look for Young or Mock (15/2 ratio) to look for WR Roy Williams against a Cougar pass defense ranked 77th in the country allowing 230 YPG. The Coogs are also short a couple DB including the #3 CB/ST Turner who injured a hand at practice. He wasn?t the only practice casualty as DT Shavies also fractured a bone in his hand. The 6-6 lineman played in all 12 games.

The Oklahoma loss against KSU in the Big-12 Championship game secured a non-BCS bowl for the Horns so motivation might play a part here for a Texas team playing in their 3rd Holiday in 4 years. They did their part down the stretch winning 6 straight to finish covering 5. Texas was also 6-2 this season laying DD should the line move that way again.

Washington St. turned the ball over 26 times in their last 5 games and allowed Kegal and BU RSFR Swogger to hit the turf for 15 sacks. Kegal has had plenty of time to recover from his shoulder injury but one good pop and we will see Swogger who has thrown 1 TD against 5 INT in relief. The young QB
also tends to fumble a good bit.

I normally fade these service picks and today I went after the anti concensus pick and got burned. The bowls have been unkind to me this yr. Can't seem to get a handle on them. If anyone has a winner, please let me know!
