Seems like ALOT of people on the Denver side. I'm throwing this STAT out, in case someone is interested. This CERTAINLY doesn't mean it's going to WIN. But it sure gives you a different PERSPECTIVE..!!!! Good luck in whatever you choose..... Doc.

There is a system that APPLIES to Indy here. Bet on a team in the first round of the playoffs, if it failed to cover its last two regular season games. (5-2) the last seven times this situation has presented itself. (19-8) since 1990. NOT to shabby of a STAT here. But I CERTAINLY like the percentages here.

Doc.

Peyton Manning v. Denver:
2001: Wk. 16. Denver +2 @ Indy (51)
Indy 29, Denver 10
2002: Wk 11. Indy +6.5 @ Denver (43)
Indy 23, Denver 20
2003: Wk 15. Denver +7 @ Indy (49)
Denver 31, Indy 17

Peyton Manning Playoff Record 0-3

2 of the last 3 times INDY has made the playoffs, they have failed to cover twice in a row before the playoffs, and lost the playoff game. Just some food for thought.

More food for thought . . .

I believe I heard this correctly on ESPN:

There have been 5 instances in which a playoff game involved a rematch of teams in which the visitor won the first game on the road by 13 or more points. In all 5 rematches, the home team won by double digits.

"something very interesting on espn, they said this situation with Denver only happened 5 other times in nfl history, but when a team has won a road game and two weeks later they have a rematch playoff road game, the road team, that won the first game has won the rematch every time!"

someone posted that on a different site - i wonder which one is true

I'm almost sure that what I heard very early this week was a "Did You Know" segment that mentioned "5 times", "13 or more points", and "double digits". Clearly that is not the same underlying premise as "two weeks" or no mention of the spread involved. As is my usual custom, I gave careful attribution to the source, and even when it is based on my own research, I frequently preface the finding with "if my calculations are correct" or something appropriate. I suspect you have uncovered conflicting trends, and someone at ESPN has been all over it.

To tweak the topic a little further, I do know that my BEST BET in the wildcard round of 2001 was Oakland (-5') beating the Jets 38-24 after losing to them at home 22-24 just 6 days earlier. On that occasion, a poster named "Bains" was popping up in just about everyones' thread to announce that the Jets were going to get the money in the rematch.

PACKERS RULE!

I heard Boomer Esiason on a local radio showtalking about the same subject..

He said it this way.

The team that loses the earlier game loses the playoff game.

Hey, What the hell does Boomer Esiason know anyway!

one also has to keep in mind that this is Denver's third week on the road and we all know the percentages for that are not good.
