-- Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles expects Razorbacks coach Houston Nutt to be hired by Nebraska. Broyles said Friday he was waiting to hear from Nutt, who met with Nebraska athletic director Steve Pederson on Thursday night in Fayetteville.

"When they talk seriously, they usually go," Broyles told the Associated Press.

I have some close supporters who know that Broyles actually had a hand in recommending Nutt, along with others like Dave Wandstat, who basically told them "Nutt is your best choice".
Broyles always has a difficult time with head coaches who's popularity is higher than his own. He is not even entertaining a counter-offer to keep him, so this is fine with Broyles.
Nutt is exactly the high-energy type that huskers are wanting.
He'll do great with their profile and fan-base.
I really think this is a done-deal.
Nutt will reach the top level of college football with this job.

On one hand I'd be shocked if Nutt took the job, knowing he
bleeds Razorback Red, on the other hand, if Neb catches him,
you better watch out for the Huskers in the future, Nutt will
kick ass.

It ain't gonna happen.......Nutt has turned down the Nebraska offer of 2.5 million ....Nebraska had a plane in fayettville this afternoon to pick him up and he has turned them down.....ALthough not ofical yet still waiting on a press confernce that was supposed to be at 6:00.........Supposibly Nutt has been offered a pay increase and the security of possibly being Broyles succesor at the university......

What a change of heart for Broyles. Originally, he stated that Ark. wasn't in a position to pay more,,now Nutt gets $1.5.
There was a report in Neb. that said Huskers were trashing Nutt on the talk shows, and were pleading to not hire him.
Nutt gets this talk at home,,and now the money is right.
The pressure at Neb. is much higher than Ark., so I think he's set.
IMO, this is the best for Ark.,,he is at home and loved by most of the state. The only exception is the few that expect him to win 11-12 games every year.
I'm glad he's staying home.

Elvis, as a nebraska fan I realize that the glory days of osborne and co. are behind us but with a decent q'back and a coach who can nut up and call a more agressive offensive scheme their is no reason why the cornhuskers can't make their way to the top again. They are clearly one of the biggest football programs in the country and it won't take too much to see them back near the top in the next few years. Whether it be Tex, Ok, Fla just to name a few, all of these schools expect to be in the thick of things come the end of the season and Nebraska is no different. I agree that they may have been a little harsh in axing solich after what was a decent year but big schools have big expectations- simple as that.

you would think that the Nebraska AD would have had a short list of coaches who they had contacted who might want to come to their school..BEFORE they axe Solich..

The Neb. AD has messed this whole thing up as badly as Auburn did. Your right, he should have had a short list of coaches that would say "yes", if offered.
He's looking really bad right now.
As for Nutt,,,he's suppossibly tired of all the criticism from the talk shows calling for his head,,,well, I don't think he wants any of Neb. fans, which is much worse.
Here's the delima, to make $1.5 in a state like Arkansas! Yeah, he'll be set financially, but the people of Arkansas will have a negative reaction to this amount of "absurd money",,let's watch.
BTW, reports say that Neb. has upped their offer to $2.5. If this is true, why wouldn't Nutt take that?

Elvis, I agree with your comments and the program is in real trouble at this stage. I'm starting to wonder whether we'll even have a coach come the beginning of next season considering the way things have been going in the past couple of weeks. The program is definitely in need of some stability though as it is far from that at the minute. For my sake and the other cornhusker fans out their, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed! What else can you do?
