miami,ohio (-1) over buffalo (8:00pm EST tip)
=====================================
this is a one of those spots where im not only backing a team, but also a coach. give me charlie coles and 11 days to prepare for a game and i will back him every single time. miami is already 0-1 in the conference. its early, but they cant afford an 0-2 start -- which would leave them playing catch-up with kent state the entire conference season. miami has been downright brutal at times this year. but buffalo just cant score against miami's defense. bulls have scored just 35,55,60,68, and 52 the L5 meetings. id be absolutely stunned if miami came out flat in an important mac game after being off for 11 days. buffalo is turnover-prone, and miami is a team that is tough to play from behind. redhawks have a 3gm homestand after this game. they need to -- and will -- win this game imo. the 1,500 screaming bulls fans wont provide much of a homecourt edge. buffalo's program has shown signs of life, and they will probably have the best player on the floor (battle) but i just dont see them having enough discipline to beat miami, especially a well-prepared and rested miami team. miami holds a 9-1 all-time series edge. not oblivious to the fact that some of those past meetings were mismatches; however, still feel its worth noting, as buffalo just doesnt fare well vs miami's structured half-court game.
