5 Star NEW YORK -1' over Houston -- The Marbury trade mortgages the Knicks' future a bit but it helps them tremendously now. In Stephon's debut with the Knicks he was only 3-of-9 from the field for a total of eight points in Cleveland. However, he barely had his bags unpacked and was not yet familiar with his teammates. Here, he will have had a few practices with the team and will be ready to roll in his homecoming debut on national TV. With Hardaway and Marbury, along with Van Horn, Thomas and Houston, this is one of the best -- if not the best -- team in the East. The Knicks have a five game homestand upcoming that starts with three "rest vs no rest" games. New York's drive to the playoffs starts tonight. Now, let's look at some trends. The Knicks are 7-0 ATS their last seven when playing the first game of at least a three game homestand -- covering by an average of 8.2 points per game. In addition, New York is 7-0 ATS at home after a road loss in which they committed at least 25 fouls and 5-0 ATS after facing the Cavaliers. Also, the Knicks are on a losing streak and they have been fantastic at stopping such streaks going 50-26-1 ATS since 1/4/1996 when on a 2+ game SU and ATS losing streak -- including 4-0 ATS since 4/14/2002 when on a 3+ game SU and ATS losing streak -- covering by an average of 14.4 points per game. The Rockets played as expected in Detroit yesterday giving us a winner on our top side play. They have not rebounded well from such a performance. Houston is 0-4 ATS their last four (all THIS season) after a loss in which they had more turnovers than assists -- failing to cover by an average of 10.2 points per game and 1-7-1 ATS when they shot less than 40% from the field in their previous game. The loss in Detroit broke a three game winning streak and the Rockets are 0-4 ATS on the road after a loss that broke at least a three game winning streak. Houston is a soft team and will be overwhelmed by the Knicks energy as well as the energy of the crowd --- which should give Stephon Marbury a tremendous welcome when he is introduced. Can't see the Rockets coming close to the Knicks in this spot.
