"Shorter than a Mazda Miata and weighing just more than 3,000 pounds, the Shelby Cobra concept has a 605-horsepower, all-aluminum V-10 engine mounted at the front of an advanced Ford GT-based aluminum chassis.

There is no roof, no side glass and no radio."

It looks and sounds amazing, I happened to catch a new show on TLC called Rides (?) when they were making the concept. The chasis is aluminum and built by hand, but with their new GT dont they already have a 6 figure car on the market? I just dont see this one coming in under that.

Six figures is right. And it will not do 0 to 60 faster then a Vett that cost 50 grand. And the vett you can drive anytime but in snow. Dont get me wrong this is nice but.

It has 200 more horsepower than the Vette and weighs 250 lbs less, on what planet do you think the Vette would have a quicker 0-60? The Vette may have 400ftlbs of torque, but the Shelby has 501! Their published 0-60 right now is "well under" 4 seconds, but since its a one of a kind, I imagine that is about as concrete as the numbers will be for now.

Sorry but I think the Vette loses this race.

a stock c5 vette would probably lose to the cobra, but a ZO6 vette would give this car a good run in the 1/4 mile... it would come down to the driver who can get off the line with little or no wheel spin.Traction is key...

I'd give the cobra a 1 second head start and still blow off his doors
72 days till spring

I think the current 'vette has a computerized traction control system, where you can stomp the accelerator with no wheel spin! Of course it can be turned off with the push of a button if you want to play around. Hard for the cobra to compete with that unless it has it also. The Cobra driver would have to be DAMNED good to beat a 'vette using its traction control.

I know the 'vettes had traction control a few years ago. Do they still have it? Don't get me wrong, I know the Cobra is easily a more powerful car but unless it can deliver that power more effectively than the 'vette it will come down to the driver.

You're talking "A" Cobra doing the quarter in 13? This Cobra and the ones they release every year share absolutely no resemblence anywhere. To my knowledge they have released no 1/4 times for this car, but at 605hp/500ftlbs I imagine it would be decent.

And you cant compare once car with NOS to another car without...

with a good take off it could hit 12s in the 1/4, it all comes down to a good launch with very little wheelspin if any, that is the key to a good time.

you're right phil, in the cobra's defense it ain't fair to compare my car to the cobra since my car is armed with NOS. But, while waiting at a red light beside another car, anything goes.

For a 1/2 second either way. For a car that is very easy on the eyes. Some say just plan perfect. And I can save 50 grand. Vett.
