Let's start with the obvious #4 Funny Cide, if everyone will remember back to the Derby, I did pick this one to win (shameless plug) anyway the geldings last race was un-impresive at the Breeders cup classic going 10f just like in the Derby. Trainer Barclay Tagg again worked Funny Cide 6f only 6 days before that race, and now just 3 days before this race he drills a bullet workout at 6f, maybe a mistake in my opinion. I really love the 5 here NewYorkHere who actually ran a bettet workout than Funny Cide did drilling 6f in 46.6 New Years day, the form is not impressive, but last 2 were of turf and he did not take to it at all, won his last 7f race at AQU for a bigger purse, the problem here is he just ran at Gulfstram 6 days ago and went 8f on the turf, ridden by Funny Cide's jockey Jose Santos:shrug: The horse was clearly not in the race and was ridden the whole way, did Santos use him up in that race? We all remember Funny laying waste to NewYorkHero as well as the field at Pimlico, but that was on an off track and NYH has improved alot since then.

I said all that to say the race my be un-betable, you will get nowhere near even money on Funny Cide and he may not even hit the board here, I do like the 5 NewYork Hero, but I am concerned about the recent long turf race. If I had to wager on this one I would go W/P/S on the 2 horse WackyForLove. You will get double digit odds on this one and he does have the best early speed in the race, been over a year since he went over 6f and that may be where they run him down, but they are gonna have to catch him as all they will see at the first turn is his ass. His improving form makes him a play. If your an exotic player then a box with 2-4-5 in a decent play.

I won't be so long winded with the rest of the races, but I want you to see that some effort does go into these plays and I am not just banging the chalk like so many touts do.

Back with more as soon as I can. I will probably not be playing Gulfstream today so please post when your heading out the door as I will probably quit looking at the card then.

Race 2

Race 2

Iwinski has a solid horse here in the 4, Intense Moment and switched to Valesquez, solid choice, again may be a short price. I will be watching the tote on this one and if we can get close to the ML of 4-1 on this one my offshore book is gonna pay an awsome price here.

Good Luck HR, I am starting to rush through these so I better quit, I have some things to do and don't want to give out half assed plays.

If I can get back at it I will, but that may be all.

Pass th 8th, play in the 9th

Pass th 8th, play in the 9th

In the 9th I'll go way outside and take a shot at the 14, only if you get a decent price, tough to win from the outside, but this one can do it.

Welcome and good luck ThunderGultch, not many of us in the track forum here, but maybe thats a good thing;)

I am not a regular player of Gulfstream so play those picks with that in mind.

Technically I guess thats a profit over those 3 races, but sorry about the plays, man I just don't know enough about Gulfstream/Calder to really make picks there. If you want to follow my plays wait till I get after the second teir tracks like Mountaineer and Penn National and junk like that, there is money to be made at those place because the majority of the public doesn't follow them enough to know what really does well there. I can't tell you how many 10-1+ horses I have hit that other people just say "how could he be in the race, it must be fixed" 3 Saturdays ago I caught a 37-1 horse at Charlestown that had the best early speed by far and the track was just not kind to closers that night, he got out and never looked back!

Hope you made out OK and at least you have peaked my curiosity about Funny Cide today, I am gonna watch that one.

penguin...please dont apologize. We still won a few bucks and you should have seen his face as he was holding the ticket and we stood at the rail at the finish line. The horse went almost wire to wire and we had a ton of fun. I will follow you in the future.

He said thanks! He loved putting $15 in his pocket.:thumb:
