New England also has a 14-2 record in games played below 35 degrees since 1993.

Read it in an article at sportsline.

Well, if everyone is going to be numb, then maybe McNair & George wont feel any of their injuries .................

As a sidenote to the night time start in NE, I have to think that game was chosen by the TV/NFL on purpose. The gametimes are Always for the benefit of TV, folks..................always. The policy of playing one 8 PM game has been in for 3 years now, and each time the big wigs decided to play that game in the northernmost city. Last year they bypassed Tampa to play the night time game in Phil. And remember the NE / OAK game played in a snowstorm a couple of years ago ??
Insiders, reporters have mentioned that a game in a blizzard of rain or snow or with any severe weather conditions attracts a lot more curious eyes.........which bolsters ratings. Makes sense to me.
I mean, why would they care about a few freezing fans ? And if this gives more of an edge to NE, great. The TV market is much larger for them than TENN. for next week's game.

As for me, I will spend the day in balmy South Fla., probably with a visit to Gulfstream Racetrack to enjoy the beautiful weather.................and the even more beautiful horses. Last week I got to within 5-10 feet of Cajun Beat. Absolutely gorgeous animal.

Thanks for the reply Brian Thomas and Zoda

Did the Titans win?

Out of that 14-2 record for NE, how many time did they cover?

Information is power and this is what Madjacks is all about.

The NFL scheduled this 8pm game for the AFC ahead of time, New England being the biggest TV market left in the AFC, got this game, so The NFL could get the biggest TV market in Primetime...

I may be crazy, but wait until the line drops and take the over. Believe it or not, it is harder to run the ball in the freezing cold, especially when the defenses are playing the run. Look at the numbers, not many big rushing games in below freezing tempatures.

I agree with you Bason. I can't see it to be that low scoring in a Pats/Titans match up. I think the first quarter might be a little low, but after the teams warm up the bit, you might see a little bit more scoring. For me, the line has dropped way to much. Im thinking the score would be like a 21-17 game and that works for me, but I haven't taken anything yet. Good luck Guys!!!!

Im starting to lean towards the teased over as well. Its bitter cold but right now you could tease the total to 28 (briefly it was 27.5 but now most seem to hold at 34. I think this will drop). Even in the snowbowl two years ago with like a foot of snow on the field they scored 29. I think it depends on how the turf holds up, but I dont see 4 tds as unreasonable here. Still no play for me I think.

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
Regarding preparing for tonight's weather conditions . . .

Mike Holmgren had an enviable record at Green Bay in games played in arctic conditions. Holmgren almost always had the team practice in the indoor facility, emphasizing the practice tempo he wanted to establish and hitting on the more important things he wanted to get accomplished, trusting that his players were already quite accustomed to stepping outdoors for the gameday conditions. On several occasions Holmgren would announce that practice was being moved outside - and then usually tell the team he was just kidding . . . While Belichick is a great coach, and I like the Patriots in this game, and there is some merit to moving outdoors to accomplish something specific, I think the idea of coming off a bye week and schlepping them outdoors and at night to practice for four straight days is questionable at best.

On the other side of the coin, I read in USA Today that the Tennessee OL will wear nothing to protect against the cold, or be fined for it in a kangaroo court . . . if you wore a stocking hat in the opener in September, then you can wear one in January. . . while there is a lot to be said for mentally blocking out the cold, I think you need to play smart and use the available technology to your advantage . . . elevating form over substance in a game of this magnitude sounds like another questionable idea.

seems like these type of games always look so nice with the weather and all......but also you usually get more turnover's also and it wouldn't take many to get this total over.......best of luck on your under play......personally i am staying away ....but will be cheering all u under player's on

Over 33'

Over 33'

We all know what happens when everyone on one side.....think we will see ball in air more than many suspect...how many FG tries with rock hard ball? Second half for the marbles, think we see conservative first half and air assault in second especially if one team behind 10+....GLTU

guys, I started this thread on the 8th around noon, a good 56 hours before the game. I actually took a shot and played under on the 6th as local forecasters were predicting a record cold snap. If you notice weather people commonly missed storms, but generally get temperature correct.

On Thursday I felt relatively confident in what forecasters were saying to post what I did. At that point total stood around 36.5, 37 could even be found shopping.

Now I see 33.5 etc., obviously value is lost crossing key numbers like 35 & 34, in this weather I still can see a very very low scoring game. 14-10 etc.. But posters are correct turnovers could easily skew that total.

Kicks & punts will not be carrying, Fielding kicks will be problems. Passing and catching and even simple handoffs will be challenging. Other than the ice Bowl between Dallas & Packers and maybe 2 other games, this will be the coldest in NFL history.

for those who missed the boat on the early total. Tease bets are generally frowned upon for good reason. However tease that under back up with either side in I think you look ok. Tennessee is a pretty good club to start with 12. 5 points. And I think New England wins straight up.

Patriots ev/under 40
Tennessee + 12.5/under 40

good luck guys

well game started faster than I expected. Obviously you can see the effected the cold has taken as action has slowed right down. Drains body of energy just trying to stay warm.

Officials letting lots of things go, like offensive holding & defensive interference. Spoke with friends at half, they say its horrible cold

good luck
