Think Denver wins this by 8-10 pts.Big time matchup problems for my Mean Green.
Denver has won 4 of last 5.Nt has lost 5 of last 6.But this denver team is not bad at 8-5 overall.They just lost to La-Laf by 3 at home.And la-laf is good.They beat Wyoming and Col St at home and are 3-3 on the road.They were rated at one time in ESPN's Top 10 mid majors.
This team can score and loves the 3's.Benzel is their best player and avg's 16 pts a game.He is 3rd in the nation in 3 pt shots.He can shoot from row 4.His avg is an amazing 48.6%.Starky is there other scorer who is 6'9 and loves the glass.He is 2nd in the league in Off bds with 48.Lyr denver swept both games vs NT.Starky had 29 pts in one of those wins.Zupic and Mcalister are a pair of 6'8 fowards that can score and bd.This is a nice front line.Their pt gd is 5'10 Billups who is the Sun belt conf assit leader with 5 apgs.
this team is in the top 4 or 5 in almost every catogory in conf play.
NT is at the bottom in many catogories.In fact the few strengths NT has in rebounding,reb margin, DU is right behind them
NT can't shoot.Their FG % is terrible.They shoot the 3 at a 29% avg.They rank last in FT % at 63%.
With the addition of 6'9 Johnson NT rebounding and shot blocking has pushed them to the top in conf stats.But right behind NT is Denver at No2.
North texas plays 10 kids.Hopkins and Rodgers are the gds.Niether is a pt gd.Roniger quit 2 weeks ago.Their gds shoot from the 3 and miss a lot.The team is 69-233 from beyond the arc. I would be O D- ied. on zantic if I was the coach and watched 184 missed shots from the 3 pt line.Unreal.
"fellows,we can't shoot the 3.We suck at it.About 170 of those were uncontested jumpers.WTF are we doing".......sorry guys...........I'm coaching again.I just was thinking what Coach Jones says to his kids in the lockerroom before gametime...
NT has about six or 7 guys that are all 6'6 and 6'7.The nice part about having 10 players is, each nite someone different might step up.
Johnson is a stud inside.Avg 16 pts and 9 bds.But he has no one around him to pass the ball.And of course with all his strengths he cannot shoot FT's.Maybe let him shoot a 3.He's 0-0 from there.
Denver has in inside game that can attack him.NT plays terrible perimeter defense.You would think that would improve with a big time center behind you but it hasn't.Starky is tough.Zupic is one of those 6'8 Croatian that of course can go outside and stick a 3.
But Billups really is the key.He will break down NT's defense ,hit Benzel who is in row 3 checking out NT's beautiful cheerleaders and dishing to Starky inside.
And speaking of cheerleaders.Only 3 or 4 showed up to the new mex st game the other nite.No fans,no cheerleaders, no band,no home court advantage.
Hopefully more cheerleaders showup tonite.But it really won't make a diference.
