i bought a new computer and and transferred everything i need over to the new one. now with my old computer i just want to erase everything on there and load windows XP. whats the best way to do that. should i go to my DOS prompt and do like a erase C:\ or just load the new windows or whats the best way to do that. Thanks!!

I would just load Windows XP let it do a new install and wipe everything away, its usually the quickest and easiest way to do it.

if you f disk, make damn sure u have a startup disk, i hate to disagree with kma, he sure knows alot more about this stuff than i do, but i think all you really need to do,(and a lot simpler) is go to your c propmt, type format c: and follow the prompts. (no disk partitions that way) should do the trick

I was thinking he had his start up discs, why don't people hold on to those discs???

Windows XP needs a LOT of memory, I hope your comp. has enough to handle it.

KMA, the problem is alot of the computers sold now, DONT have the xp program on disk, they put it on a partition on the drive itself and that sucks, lost a hard drive a few months ago, had to go back to windows me cuz i was not going to buy xp.
