I am going to Vegas for the first time soon and am staying at NYNY. I hear that there most of the tables are $10 min. Is this true? If so, any recommendations on where to play $5 tables? Any other suggestions, recom., about the hotel are appreciated.

most places around always have the $5 games going on during the day on weekdays- they'll bump most of them up to $10 at night and weekends
looking for cheap action but still want to stay on the strip..
try the flamingo and the imperial palace..
you can find $5 tables there, and they are right in the middle of the nice hotels.. next to the venetian.. and across the street from my personal favorite Caesars Palace!!!!.. the Bellagio, Mirage, Paris, and MGM are also near by

Imperial Palace on the Strip will have $5 tables on nights and weekends, its not flashy or even clean at most times, but the games are there if you want them.
Believe it or not there are two blackjack tables in the Bellagio that have been $5 on friday nights and saturdays right by the poker room. I keep walking by them and marveling that the Bellagio still has $5 tables. They were crowded but you can find them. If NYNY doesnt have them, take the walkway to Excalibur,l definitely should find them there.

I havnt been out to Vegas now in awhile.
But Ceasars is just a class place and my favorite.
Next time I go I will check out the Venitian and Bellagio.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. One more question to pose for you. Any comments on Free Ride or Pai Gow. I have been playing these on line for some time and like them both. They both seem like one of those games that you can play for a while and not win or lose that much money. Pai Gow more so than Free Ride at least.

i play roulette... i love it when i just want to get drunk and not have to think like in craps or BJ.
roulette can be fun and your money will last a long time if you play it right..
play all the outside stuff... black/ red... 1-18 or 19-36.. my personal favorite is to play the 3 to 1 odds... put $25 bucks on 1-12 and 25 bucks on a second set of 12 numbers..
youll loose one but it pays 3-1 and youll come out 25 ahead.. you can go through streaks were you lose both bets... this is the problem cause it adds up quickly.. but most of the time you will win a little something..
your not going to win big with this type of play.. i just like it cause you can sit down.. get drunk... not have to think.. and just suck in the atmosphere...
the wheel spins around.. then the guy counts chips..it takes awhile.. with BlackJack 5 bad hands in a row and you can be done in 5 minutes.. if you play the wheel right you can sit for hours and not lose money.. its fun..

I also like roulette, but going into it I know it is a losing proposition. Nothing like having a few drinks and playing roulette with the hotties at the Hard Rock on a Friday night.

agreed if you play the numbers..
but you can make your money last a long time with the other bets.. i love craps! its my favorite.. but its also a bit of work for me.. maybe cause i dont understand it as much as i would like..
Craps is the game where your $ will vanish in no time unless you get lucky, then you can make a score.
