A woman and a man(unrelated) each have 2 children.
At least one of the womans children is a boy, and the mans older child is a boy.

Do the chances that the woman has 2 boys equal the chances that the man has two boys?

(Assume the probability of having a boy is the same as the probability of having a girl = .5)

Re: Probability Question..........Help please???

Woman has 1/3 prob of two boys, man has 1/2 prob of two boys.

With the woman, saying she has at least one boy only eliminates (gg) from list of 4 possibilities. That leaves 3 scenarios (bb, bg, and gb). 1/3 chance of bb.

With man, saying oldest is boy leaves two scenarios (gb, bb).
1/2 chance of bb.

In all scenarios, assume (youngest, oldest).
