I've never been, and really haven't talked to many people that have. Looking for a quick weekend anniversery trip (with some gambling tied it) in late March, and don't want to mess with a 4 hour flight (Vegas). We both like to gamble, but we like shows, etc. as well. Anyone's opinion welcomed!! ;)

Just came back from a night of poker in AC and seriously, the place is a complete shithole. Chances are a flight to Vegas is cheaper than 3 nights of a hotel in AC. Its worth it to, AC really has absolutely nothign to offer, no redeeming qualities other than its East Coast location. If you want to gamble, I hear good things about Tunica, may be worth checking out.

Agree with the above, can't believe the town of AC gets worse EVERY YEAR. Go to Vegas, well worth it. AC is only about 7 hours for me give or take, and I have probably made my last trip there.

Vegas is much better, the place is a bonified shithole. If somebody ever wanted to make a case against gambling & casinos not helping the outer community AC would be the place. Total shithole, I won't be back even though I live fairly close.

Yes, Vegas is WAY better than AC but I dont mind going there. Only about an hour away. Borgata poker room is nice, thats usually where I go.

Thanks for the replies. I've been to Vegas a lot and if we had the time the choice is a no brainer. I also heard the same about Tunica. Looks like we'll have to squeeze out one more day and head west. Unless I find a friend like Highroller has....;)

Amen to most of the posts here. AC is definitely a shithole. Only reason to go is if you are only interested in gambling, and only gambling. Used to go quite a bit on quick-hitter evenings from the Philly area. Then visited Vegas and started gambling online. Never going back to AC. But again, if gambling is all, it's do-able. But for an anniversary trip, or some other experience, Vegas is definitely the way to go.

The place is a shithole. Parking way too expensive. Casino employees are very rude.
Do yourself a favor, go to Vegas or The Foxwoods.

I lived 2 1/2 hours north on AC in PA went there every other weekend. I went there to gamble only and never left the casino. THE PLACE IS A SHIT HOLE just like everyone has said. If you do go stay out at the Marina like HighRoller said. I live out in the midwest now and use the Indian casinos they suck. Vegas is the best way to go hands down.

YEH BABY the Marina is my spot all summer too.................. I LOVE THE DECK in the summer time............

my opinion for what its worth is that A.C. has come along way in the last 10 years believe it or not.............Vegas is the same shit hole town when you turn the corner , if you know what I mean its just much more elaborate on the outside and a much bigger place all the way around but it still has the crack neighborhoods 1 or 2 blocks off the strip and many more forigners than AC! To me all of the casinos offer all of the same things anyway, so if you go and stay in the new borgata "rooms are georgous" and want to go to dinner and a show gamble and drink then why feel as if you need to take that 4 hour flight:shrug:

I LOVE A.C. :D but then again its only 1 hour and 15 min. away from me and I stay in Brigantine which is right over the bridge from AC plus I have been going there for years so I know the hotspots like highroller...............and not to mention in the summer AC has also cleaned up there beaches considerably FOR REAL I wouldn't even lay on an AC beach but now I'll drive there from brigatine because The Taj Mahal and the Hilton have beach bars and cabanas and live bands outside it just doesn't get any better than that !

so I say get a suite at the new Borgata screw that 4 hour flight and have fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also keep in mind at the Borgota (only Marina hotel I have experience at), nothing lower than $25 on weekends. Played poker there on Saturday and walked around every few hours up until 1am. Around 4pm they had 2 $15 tables with changes cards on them, around 730 or so, nothing under $25 at any game. Havent been to the Marina, maybe there are lower tables there. It will take a lot of work to find low(er) limit tables on weekends that arent 2 deep with people waiting. Room prices in my experience, if you are paying full price, are pretty high on weekends.

Are you coming from Ohio as your location indicates? I dont think the question is the four hour flight, the question is, how long does it take you to get to AC from Ohio and what is the *extra* time you would spend traveling? I imagine AmWest or Southwest have nonstops to Vegas and its a 5 minute cab ride to your hotel from there. How would you get from Ohio to AC and how long would that take? Would you have to rent a car (no car needed in Vegas). I'm not convinced that getting to AC would be all that much cheaper or time saving than Vegas, AC still has to be a 3 or so hour flight from Ohio, as to my knowledge there are no direct flights. So the question at that point would be, is it worth the extra hour or 90 minutes on each end? I dont know anyone here that wouldnt go the extra 90 minutes on a flight to get to Vegas.

And no offense T or any other AC-defenders, but there is no contest between the two in terms of food and shows. I have been to some great clubs, restaurant and shows in AC, so I dont want to imply there are no redeeming qualities in AC. But there just is no contest comparing the two to Vegas. Just at Bellagio alone, take her to the Art Gallery to see the Monet, Van Gogh and Renoir, the early show of Cirque's 'O' and dinner at Picasso. That was an awesome Valentines Day I did once. If food and shows are important, its not even close IMHO.

shit the world may end today because i am going to agree with T. By the time you get to airport check in fly out here get bags and to hotel then have to do the same thing going back you blew a whole day not to mention the jet lag that will catch you on one of the days. She has seen the not so good places with me and she knows why i hate the strip. Like she said one block either way is a war zone and is just as bad if not worse then ac. I know where her and Ray stay is very nice and a fun crowd also have a uncle who is up in the marketing department at the Borgota and all the info and pictures he sent jeri and I looks nice to me. now if you don't think vegas is a dump i will take you on a trip, if you go out of vegas like green valley or seven hills or whittney ranch in henderson where we live or summerlin then it is nice but for a few days i would do the ac deal. hell nothing wrong with being a minority which i am out here but shit i feel like i am in a different country on the strip hell miami was not that bad in terms i me feeling out of place. you get off the strip the wrong direction at night you are in trouble if a cop does not get you the hell out a crack or meth dealer will find you and find you fast. vegas is not what everyone thinks yes it is nice for awhile but it is also one of the biggest dumps i have ever been in for a long time living, that is why i stay in my part of town and hate the strip. to many people and way to much crime if you don't know what you are doing or going the glitter and lights just over shadow it all, check your crime rate out. i would take the easy trip to ac since it is a short one. have not been there in at least 10 years have lot of family who live in woodberry and cherry hill nj so have been there when i was younger, but it can't be as bad as people are saying i know the pictures i saw from my uncle and the place looked very nice to me inside and the place tara goes to dance and have fun at night has to be nice, clean and safe or she would not step foot in it, she is high maintence and will not settle for a dump I know i put here in 1 her first time out here. they have a house on the island so for them or her at least to spend almost half of the time each month in the summer there it can't be a dump like people are saying(and yes i have your green shirt all folded u for you T) I would take the fast short trip hell your already married not like you have to sell yourself to get some, your going to gamble and have fun why waste a day out of your trip and be tired for another:D

This is what I was asking, is it really all that shorter?

I dont want to say Vegas is heaven and AC is a total dump, yes there are nice parts of AC and crackwhore parts of Vegas (like up by the Strat. But overall, my vote would be for Vegas especially if the extra time spent getting there is minimal.

If you would like I can call the Trump Marina and see if I can get you a deal for the weekend. The comps will be based on your play and have nothing to do with me. I can make a call if you like just let me know that dates and times of arrival.

HR!
