EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- According to a report, the New Jersey Nets fired head coach Byron Scott on Monday.

The New York Daily News reported that Scott will be replaced by head assistant coach Lawrence Frank at a Monday afternoon press conference.

The team's all-time winningest NBA coach, Scott posted a 149-139 record in three-plus seasons with the Nets. Scott's accomplishments with the Nets are highlighted by two consecutive trips to the NBA Finals.

The Nets snapped a five-game losing skid on Sunday, but are still a disappointing 22-20 this season.

The Nets were also in the news on Friday, as the franchise was officially sold to developer Bruce Ratner, who plans on moving the Nets across the Hudson River to Brooklyn. That deal is now waiting approval from the rest of the NBA owners.

They ought to hire Jason Kidd. The owners thinks he coaches the team anyway. NBA coaching has got to be one of the toughest gigs going. One year out of the finals, and see ya later. Scott will be coaching again soon, as will Doc Rivers.

Yeah, I don't get it. Two straight trips to the finals, and in my opinion, the Nets could have had Red Auerbach as their coach in those series' and they would have gotten stomped by Shaq and Duncan.

Maybe the transistion in ownership is going to start cleaning house??? Who knows.

Jason Kidd is a punk, I heard he begged Rod Thorn to fire Scott. Byron is a great coach, the Nets are 2 time eastern confrence champs and are currently sitting in first place in the weak atlantic division. Simply put Jason Kidd is a punk.
