presently no cable at all. was only lookin to get espn channels and maybe pickup the NBA, NFL and NCAA packages that they offer. i have a roommate too who would most likely be fine with a basic setup (course i would too as long ESPN included). though i know we wouldnt want to be forced to watch the same thing in both rooms. what i need to know is whats the best deal for what i'm looking to get? dish? or cable?--and from whom? thanx in advance

Well if you want the NFL package, Direct Tv is your ownly choice. I've had DTV for 3 years now and couldnt live without the dual tuner Tivo and DTV combo. Its the nuts.

I'm lucky I have a clear view of the Southern sky. But NFL has an exclusive Directv contract, so if you want their package, you have to get Directv.

Look, I gush so much about Tivo you would think I work for the company, but I dont. And any DVR may be the same, I just only have experiencce with Tivo. But I am not lying in that it will not only change the way you watch TV, but you wont be able to live without it once you have it. No more rushing home to catch a show, or fiddling with the vcr. With the season pass, you can set it up to tape all the shows over an entire season, or all the re-runs, or all the shows with the word 'poker' in the title. Not to mention the pausing live tv bit. Directv I think is still the only medium you can get dual-tuner tivo with. Basically it means you can pause one show, flip over to the other tuner and watch another show. Its one of the greatest electronic gadgets released in the last 20 years.
