Ok was givin IBM APtiva, couple years old , only boots up in safe mode, fdisk, reformat, and still the same, is this sugesting motherboard shot, or ?,,,any ideas would be appreciated..

Safe mode allows booting without activating any drivers. Sounds like one of the drivers is shot or the equipment is missing.
