I'm off from school today and its sad to say who's birthday is it Washingtons or Lincolns.I was off on Friday too.Kinda sad I don't know but don't think many of you know either.I could go to the advertisments in our Sunday paper and see what sale is going on.But all they say is "Presidents White Sale at JC Penny's or Last 2 Days..Great Presidents'Sale at Sears.

Anyway this is Box's Lincoln's Day Specials. All free, but no refunds.

Niagara pk over Fairfield ****
Purple got derailed by O'Toole's half court offense and a zone that collasped inside in last weeks loss to fairfield 69-59.It was Niagara's 1st double digit loss of the yr.And was played at home.Stags with losses to two top[Gai-Todd] players went on a winning streak beating everyone in its path.Everyone has stepped up big.Esp Sogadazi,Maxwell,Bell, etc.Frosh Van.. even won rookie of the week.lw.
In last weeks upset win at NU Timmy slowed the game down to an half court offense attack. Many times didn't shoot the ball until under 10 seconds.NU is a high powered offense ranked in the top 10 in the country. They avg 82 pts a game and in last 10 games have scored..105,97,90,87,87,79,etc. Fairfield comes up north and plays the clock and holds them to 59 pts.Outstanding job by O'Toole with his game stratedgy.Several other MAAC times have tried it but to no avail.Sagging Stag defense forced NU to shoot from the outside. They were off shooting and couldn't get the ball inside.
No way that happens again today.NU went down to st peters and destroyed them the other day.held Clark to 17 pts.
Darden had 25 pts .Mendez and Reaves will get the ball inside.NU will attack the zone much more aggressive then last week.NU will trap and attack Stags half court offense.Last time they limited NU to one shot.mendez and reaves will hit the off bds big time today. No repeat and revenge.
NU beat Fairfield lyr away 85-74.The past yrs away they won 80-77 and 88-84.And fairfield almost won in closer games up in Niagara those yrs.
Fairfield is 16-5 ats ranked 7th out of 233 teams. Also 6-2 at home but Purple is 6-3 ats away.
Purple win by 6-8 pts today.

Oklahoma St -1.5 over OU ******* strong play
Big time matchup problems.OSU should be able to handle the OU crowd and win this by double digits.I have the line at -8 so I love the cowboys tonite.
OSU has already beaten them 77-56.Give OU 10 more home pts.
OU is young but talented.Bookout loss hurt them but even if he was healthy I like OSU.
OU defense is not the same.Sampson has gone to zone because he cannot matchup man/man.OU zone is getting better esp after styming Texas Texas the other day.TT had big time problems vs the 2-3 and OU won 63-48.TT had 23 turnovers trying to force the ball inside.and OU got 26 pts off those TO's.And that is the reason the line is only -1.5 tonite.OU offense last week scored 37 pts to Texas's 66.And they just beat texas AM who gives everyones headaches in College station. But OU struggles. Frosh Lavender had 30 pts.McKenzie is tough. But this team is so young.
Ok St is a diferent breed of a hoop team.They are loaded.They have won 8 str,15 of last 16.Ranked No 1 in the nation shooting 52% Fg.No 11 in 3 pt fg%,
OSU is a much better team then OU.I know they are playing at OU and many will be worried about home court. No time to get into all the players but OSU has Lucas at the pt.Again great pt gds negate the home crowd many times.Lucas is having a great yr and will attack the seams.
OU cannot play man/man thru out so they must play a lot of zone tonite.OSU can shoot the lites out of any zone. What happened lyr to them in the NCAA's by the Cuse won't happen again.Eddie has worked on zone attack and since more teams like Texas and other B-12 teams are using zone its not new to them.
OSU has won road games at Texas,Iowa St,KSU, and.Arkansas.Lost to TT on the road.OU has dominated this series the past 2 yrs winning by 16 and 5 pts wins. But OU had records of 27 and 26 wins back then.Like McFarlin,Lucas,Grahram and co to win this..

Will be back with BC-Hall,ND -Cuse and Canisius-Rider
gl to everyone today.

glad to see you on niagara, i posted some similar thoughts in the game thread, see the eagles by 8-10 pts...

bc tougher than many expected this year but the hall is rollin' & playing @ home...9 is a lot but i'm leaning to hall...

edit: also, bc's smith is ? for tonite w/ back injury, that just about seals it for me if he's limited/out...

btw, wonder if you know the guy--no names here--who was supposed to be named the a d @ the point (6-8 yrs ago?) but then left when some cid guy was put in instead to clear up some problems w/ the program (my guy wasn't involved)...think he went to uconn & i'm trying to track him down...

anyway, gl tonite, caper

jmizeus....lol I'm in charge of it. But I can still dance.Sure like Smokey Robinson,Wilson Pickett, and Roling Stones to dance to.
Now I have to meet with the freak'in DJ's and go over what music and lyrics are allowed.
We have over 25 parents chaperoning and every yr one of them will come over to me and say"Mr Box,I think there saying some bad words in that song I say ". Holy Shit",.Naaa We do let some songs get thru but very few.
My own kids know the songs and go over them with me.The Juniors are amazed that Box knows all the songs and lyrics.ha.Thank god for having 3 teenagers.

caper,is Schenectady going to win their section.I love Schenectady. Many, many moons ago I upset a team from the Utica area in the regional finals.Played at Union College.Always remember a great Italian resturant not far from Union. And that famos Hot dog-hamburger place.Petes or georges???I remember staying at the ramada inn and instead of taking the bus to Union we dribbled our basketball s to the college.I ruined 5 leather basketballs dribbling on the concrete. ha

Seton Hall -8 over BC ***
Small play unless Smith is out.Barrett and co should be able to score vs BC defense.Hall is doing the old fade again.Think they get their act together tonite at home.Hall has to many greyhounds.BC gd play does not impress me.Hall with 6 or 7 pt lead with 5 minuts.Barrett puts them away...

ND +7 over the Cuse **
Thomas and Quinn should be able to shoot over zone.W/O Francis ND has still won.Edlein 15 pts and 5 apgs will be missed.Mac has to move to the pt and pace from the 3 to the 2.Not a big play either .Cuse already beat ND by 10 in South bend. Both teams trying to adjust w/o good players.Hard to capp like that.Small lean for the dog.

Ark St -18 over FIU **
Lyr they won 85-65 at ASU.Missing Mathis and Morbon make it even worse.Same as lyr..

All small plays tonite.
Niagara and Oklahoma St top plays.NU looking good so far but its not over till ...you know who sings.. GL

box, if you made that trip to union today you'd be dribbling w/ your left 'cuz you'd need a glock in your right to get there safely, schenectady (city) is on the rocks lately...no hall play for me 'til i confirm smith's status but like ark st play, see a blowout...stags coming back in 2nd half, cut it to 8, figures...gl, caper

box...... sch'dy should win there section....although CBA is tough and beat sch'dy @ home earlier his year they have a remach @CBA later this week. Both teams are in the top 10 in class A.....not sure of the Italian rest near union (there are many of them) but the Hot Dog place is Mike's...next time in town you may want to try Newest hot dogs....even better than Mike's in my opinion.....

Box....there is no doubt this sch'dy team is decent....but they are not even close to as good as the 98 team that had James Thomas (texas), Willie Dean (purdue) and Jason McKreith (rice) on it.....this was the team that went to the fed championship game and lost...believe they went 33-1....dont think this years sch'dy team has the depth or experience to win the states...the metro ny teams will be too physical and quick for this team

Box, nothing on the Canisius/Rider game?

I'm liking the dog here. Rider squeezing in more game time on the schedule of late. Both teams statistically similar. The last game was decided by 12, but most of the lined games in this series have been close. Canisius looking for payback after the home blowout loss earlier.

Ahhhhh.. Niagara. What a choke .Mendez getting faked out 3 times by Thomson with head fake to shoot.Mendez goes up to block and Thomson drives by him.Three times in the last 6 minuts of a game.Unreal.No help side defense.Darden the last 10 minuts of the game never shot.Only passed the ball away on every single possesion. Then takes an off balance shot with 3 seconds left.
They are the worst fundamental team I've ever seen.Up 23 pts and fall apart. You ain't even going to the NIT's fellows.
OK St looked good.
Intense no...I played Canisius +5 but I guess i didn't post it.It was a small play but with Ferris back and Wilson really playing the pt good I was grabbing the pts.Nice win Intesnse Operator...

caper..lol about the neighborhood. Is the ramada still there?I did play SH even w/o knowing about Smith.Hall got their butts beaten.

C-note...Christian Bros are always tough.maybe I'll see one of them in Glen Falls.I do remember the 98' team.I only once went to the Federation games. The real ones are the Public HS ones the week before. For the NY state teams many times those games are anti-climatic.And your playing all the NYC Public and catholic champs.
The Italian restr was about 3 or 4 blocks down from Union. Then we made a left, and it was a few blocks down.It was Mikes hot dogs.
but I do remember after winning at Union we dribbled back to the hotel. Our local paper took a picture of us and that made the headlines.
But I ruined 5 new basketballs.
