just sitting around killing time until the new "regis millionaire" show comes on at 9 pm....
the old lady likes these awards shows so here we are watching what i must say,is the most arrogant, borish, pampered, most self aggrandizing, pompous, sheltered group of people pat themselves on the back shamelessly.......gives me douche chills...
i love the movies as much as the next guy....but,i think if you were forced to sit in a room with some of these "aristocrats",i doubt that you could get them to talk about anything other than themselves.....these people truly live in "oz".......they haven`t a clue about what the average guy on the street thinks ,feels or experiences.....
i`ve come to 2 conclusions.....
1)actors get involved in politics and other forums for one reason and one reason alone....it`s a very public forum.....they get to be seen...they get to be in the public eye.........i hope that some give enormous amounts of time and money to charity...behind the scenes...but,i`m very skeptical......not enough pub......when i look at them, i see "princess di" taking publicity photos with the starving kids in africa......being anointed the great humanitarian.....and then when mother teresa dies the same week....someone that has actually spent her whole life ministering to the needy,it`s barely a blip on the radar screen....
2)i know that many of them(at least the most obnoxious and vocal) lean to a more liberal philosophy...i think they like being seen as being benevolent to the peons.......i tend to lean conservative.......not on everyting....i don`t dislike kerry....i don`t like religious fanatics....i think a woman should have the right to choose about pregnancy within a reasonable time frame...i think clinton was unfairly skewered for getting a b.j.....i think corporate crime should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.....and i wouldn`t be against affirmative action if it were based more on economic than racial parameters.....
but,if and when these pompous peacocks start leaning conservative,i think i`ll start taking a very hard look at extreme liberal philosophy.....i honestly think that when i see a streisand,a sheen,a penn, a sarandon,a michael moore going on one of their tangents i am automatically pushed in the opposite direction...i think their activism hurts the democratic party more than it helps them...
maybe this says more about me than them
.......
rant over....
