Did anyone get out and see this movie tonight?????

I heard stories about it that gave me chills...............We have tickets prepaid for Sunday. I am not so sure this is something I really want to see , I heard its horrific...............

My oldest son went to the movies last night ,he couldn't get into that movie so he went and saw another one. His movie was over a few minutes befor so he saw the people coming out of the passion of christ . He said that "eveyone" had tears in there eyes men and women...........

Very graphic movie. I don't see how anyone could have survived the scourging Jeshua took in this portrayal.

Saw this movie tonight. Quite a different perspective than the Franco Zepharelli film Jesus of Nazereth that you see every year around Easter. I knew the Romans were brutal, but goodness.

saw the movie tonight and I highly recommend it, yes it's graphic but tells a true story and paints a true picture of what it's suppose to be but to say the romans were brutal makes me wonder if you really paid attention, weren't the jews the ones who condemened him to the cross?... not judging just making an observation.

LOL Eric. Yeah, I think I was paying attention. Being raised Catholic, I am aware of the basic story and guilty parties, ok? The scene where the Romans whip him though is what I was referring to.

I am not interested in getting into a whole discussion on the frame of mind of the Jewish high priests, etc....I was just commenting on the brutality of this movie <rolling eyes>

I saw the movie yesterday. From the reviews on tv, newspaper, and internet, I was prepared to see something that utterly shocked me. To my surprise, this was not the case. It is graphic and violent but from the hype, I expected much more. I think the uproar is caused by who is a victim of such violence. I think the same flogging/whipping scene in "Gladiator" of a slave would not raise nearly as many eyebrows.

I just wish the Christians would realize that this is just another interpretation of the events and not historical fact of the exact occurences of that day.

I agree....this is just the Gospel according to Mel. My problem with the movie is that you can sometimes take things too far in your interpretation of such events in order to make a point, especially when these events only occupy about 10-15 pages of text in the New Testament. Leaves for ALOT of interpretation to fill in 2 hours worth of footage.

I just find it hard to believe that Jesus was turned into a bungee jumper as they were leaving the Garden of Gethsemenie. Must have been some hidden Scriptures Mel dug up on that one. If his point was to show the brutality of the Roman soldiers, he more than covered that in the Scourging scene.

On a positive side of the movie, I thought his presense of the devil was pretty good - just not sure why he used children to represents the demons. Overall, I liked the movie. I would recommend it to anyone over 13.

Munson, I really can't believe you were expecting to see more. To me Jesus was beaten to within a inch of his life. Not sure how it could possibly be more realistic. It was without question the most extensive brutal realistic beating Ive seen in any film. At one point it was over 30 straight minutes of beating & whipping of Jesus, what could possibly constitute more violent? If the Roman soldiers took out 9mm' s and rattled him with bullets?

This was roots with kunta kinte times 100, definitely graphic & brutal realistic.
