I'm not looking for an argument or anything, but with the Oscars coming up I'm just curious what some people's favorite movies of 2003 were. Whether you thought they were deserving of an Oscar or just cool in some way, I'd be interested to see what people liked. This goes double for folks like Hoops and Nolan who post relatively often about motion pictures.

For me, definitely 'Lost In Translation'. Also think Bill Murray undoubtedly deserves the Best Actor award.

didn't get to see it, but I was very intrigued by the trailer. I just have a hard time getting out to the movies. Still haven't seen LOTR, RotK either.

BTW, 65, if you do see ROTK be prepared for a long sit. Decent film but in my opinion the last 20 minutes could have been cut to make it a better one.

I haven't seen it either, but just about all of my friends that have said pretty much the same thing.

I wasn't really taken aback by any movie I saw this year, but I'd have to say my favorite was Seabiscuit.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

And I am not typically inot this stuff, but my wife made me see the firstone, and I have enjoyed the series ever since.

I thoroughly enjoyed Miracle as well, was into the whole movie...and brought back great memories of watching the game as a child with my father when we won that day!

My Top three from 2003....

1. The Station Agent --do yourself a favor and go see this one. Best movie I've seen in quite some time.

2. Big Fish

3. Lost in Translation and Seabiscuit

Planning on watching Seabiscuit again as I saw it on the plane to Belize at X-mas time and the last 5 minutes where shown while half the people on the plane were trying to get off plus my wife slept rather than watched it and wants to see it.

Saw "The Cooler" Wednesday night and while I wouldn't be as harsh in my review of it as Nolan was in his, I still wouldn't recommend you rush out and see it, but its worth the 3 bucks to rent it when it comes out on DVD.

Any others you would recommend seeing?

I enjoyed Lost In Translation - not so sure it is of Oscar quality. Murray's performance was dynamite.

Forgot about these earlier.....

Capturing the Friedmans...raises as many questions as it answers.

American Splendor...should have had this one in my top 3 rather than Seabiscuit.

A Mighty Wind....same bunch of jokesters that were responsible for Best in Show.

Thirteen.....don't have any kids of my own, but this one should/will scare the pants off anyone that does or cares about our youth. The "Kids" of 2003.

AR182--

Have heard good things about Master and Commander from others. Will wait for it to show up on HBO then I'll check it out. Only thing I've ever liked that Hugh Grant was in was "Four weddings and a funeral", otherwise I can't stand the pompus twit...LOL....;)
