Next Saturday the 'box" will be at his schools Junior prom. But thats not the "dance" your intrested in.Take into account today is most teams last game or 2nd to last game in conf play.So in many coaches mind, their telling their kids this is a big game.Of course teams could win their conf tourneys, etc. And seedings for next weeks touneys are also on the line.
A few team on the so called bubble this week are..Richmond,G.Wash,Georgia,Cal,BYU,Creighton,Wichita[think Bluejays could play tough today]Marquette,Mizzou,Nebraska,Colorado, and Rutgers.I know I missed a lot more. Also all the MAAC,Horizons, etc 2nd place teams..

St Joes -10 over URI... ******[I made the play last nite because I knew it would go up this morning - now 10.5]
I have about 3 pages of notes,player breakdowns,past games,etc,etc.
URI lost 73-59 to Joe in Philly earlier.Joes has played better since and URI has been up and down.Joe lyr was upset at URI and the game is soldout in Rhody on national TV,DickieV,etc, etc.
Lyr Joes lost 7 games. They have avenged 5 of those losses this yr.Today it will be 6.
Hawks are ranked in the top 10 in 6 catogories.FG%,3 pt shooting, etc, etc. But to me only two stats really stick out.The have the fewest turnovers and their FG% defense is unreal.Their one weakness is rebounding. In fact in 25 wins they have been out-rebounded 10 times. You don't need a rebound when your team is 9th in the nation in FG% and 2nd in 3 pt%.They don't miss.In the A-10 they have 4 of the top 5 shooters in 3 pt shooting. And in Carroll's last 10 games...oh my god..
West,Nelson and Baily are the 3 best gd combo.
These guys pressure the ball all game. They stop gaps, rotate on defense and contest every shot. They shut down the oppenents top scores.Robinson URI star had 6 pts and was 2-13.I'm sure today that won't happen but Martelli kids play that great team defense.
No team in the country moves the ball around better. It's a clinic.Nelson can break down a defense and its pass, pass, pass and their is Carroll in the corner uncontested. Swish....hit the freak'in rim once will ya...Delonte,the same thing but he's up at the elbow...
URI has a good gd combo of Woodward and Robinson.Inside their weak but have Hellenga and Hazelton coming off the bench.Mack,Wise and Clark on their frontline are avg.Jones and Bryant can matchup.
URI doesn't have the inside game to beat Joes. They must do it from outside. And that is the hawks greatest strength. And URI shoots only 32% from the 3.
Despite the Fieldhouse sold out and everyones face painted a sea of blue, West and Nelson are on a mission.I see a 6-8 pt game with about 6 minuts left and then St joes puts it away and covers the 10 pts.Joes is 9-4 ats away.URI is 4-6-1 ats home.

East Tenn +1 over Col Charleston ******
A couple of top mid-major going against each other. The wrong team is favored.I have ETSU at -3 so I'm jumping on this.
ET is the better team. They are 15-0 in SoCon and have won 11 rd games vs D-1 schools. They rebound better, shoot better and are 9-4 ats on the away.Char is 11-1 at home in conf but are 1-6 ats.
Both teams play with 3 gds.And ET's gds are better.Smith is a great pt gd avg 16 pts and 4 apg's.Rhoda and Anthony both avg near D-digits.Fields is a 6'7 scorer who can dominate.and their stud is Zakee Woods who scores and rebounds.Nuckles comes off the bench at 6'9.
Charles gds are good with Mitchell at the pt.But their strength is Mobley at the fd and Benton in the middle.
ET is quicker, has better athletes, and has beaten them the past 3 times..Lyr won by 9.Charles has won at home but struggled beating teams like Appa St by 2,losing to Ga South, and getting beat by W-Mich even though they got "hosed" by the refs.
ET on the rd just beat fresno by 2 and lets not forget them almost beating Wake lyr in the NCAA's.The dance is getting closer...
With Smith directing traffic and Zakee driving ETSU gets another rd win.

Will be back in awhile with a few more.

GL, I liked E Tenn St myself, they are the better team on both sides of the ball, but I ended up passing as Coll of Char would like nothing better then ruining E Tenn St perfect conference record at home (Coll of Char) was the last to run the table in conference play!

Well St Joes and ETSU are going down.Watched Joes game.Missed a lot of open shots but they were due for a game like that.URI switching defenses from man to zone kept them off balance. But Martelli attacking the 2-3 with 3 gds and no post.Really out coached himself.Even though Jones is no threat put Carroll flashing the post in the middle.I watched about 20 times St joe with no one in the middle. You could even put Nelson flashing at the FT line and then turning around an attacking.
No excuses though.Poor job on my part.

Yale -16.5 over Dartmouth ******** strong play
Dart has lost there last 5 games by 23,15,24,20 and 38.The 38 was to Yale at home.
Boise St -1 over la tech ***
Ok St -15 over baylor ***
Detriot -5.5 over Youngstown ***
UTEP -4 over Smoo **
Hofstra +6.5 over *
Seton Hall -12 over G'town *
Utah St -8 over cal irvine ******* will explain it later
Farifield -2 over Siena **
Creighton pk over SWMizzou ***

Yale is the strong play
Lost 2 big plays.Won smaller ones with Vir Tech and Memphis.Waiting on Richmond

Box,

Tough day yesterday, but you are still the best basketball capper on this forum as far as I am concerned. Looking forward to your plays today as I haven't seen you lose on your big plays on back to back days very often. You are a class act man. Best of luck and looking forward to a bounce back day!!!

:Yep:

The worst part of this business is that, even after a game is capped to a tee, they still have to play the bloody thing! Something about the best laid plans...

I'll echo the Skipper's sentiments, you're the best hoops capper I've seen in years, consistently, and I have no doubt you'll have a huge bounce back today! Thanks again for all your hard work!

Cheers!
