Re: Ever Turn in a Local???

just my 2 cents , But you never EVER turn some one over.................unless you have plans on growing eyes in the back of your own head................There is NO satisfaction in being a RAT or maybe some think there is:shrug:

try to find a way of dealing with this guy on your own, of course he wants you to place more bets with him. In hopes that you will lose some if not all of your profit !

I say pay him a visit ,as he would you if the tables were turned................

Totally agree with TBonz. I got stiffed for about $2300 by a local who went out of business. I tracked him down to Vegas (he told me he liked the Gold Coast) where I confronted him. He went busted and couldn't pay (so he says) so what can I do - kick his ass? That is the risk you take playing with a local (and some offshores evidently). And the local takes the risk that you will pay. Don't mean to make light of it, because getting stiffed like this knawed at me for a long while. There is no sense to turn the guy in - and in fact, they may come after you.

Got to agree with TBONE and ferd on this one.

You just don't handle business that way.

First the police phone call would go like this.

ring ring..

Hello , 911 what is the state of your emergency.

Griffen - I got some trouble with a local that stiffed
me for $ 600.00. I have called and called and he won't pay me.

Sir what is your full name, address, and phone.

Griffen that would be Joe Smashmouth 4433 North Ave

Dispatch - Sir you do understand that gambling is illegal in this state?

Griffen - Oh yeh I forgot about that.

Dispatch - We will send a detective to that address and you can
explain the criminal activity you have been involved in to him.
Maybe he will help you get the money. Maybe he will even go
with you to collect it.

Griffen - Gulp....

...............................................................

Doorbell rings......

Are you Griffen Joe Smashmouth ?

Griffen - yeh

Do you know a guy named Big Eddie ?
And is it you thats been calling around making threats
that maybe your going to the cops ?

Griffen - Yeh that was me making the calls and I know that bastid Big Eddie, he is my local and he stole money from me. I even called the police on him.

Oh you did huh. So let me get this so I understand this right. Instead of doing the smart thing and going to have a sit down with the guy you got to talk all big like you aint vulnerable.

Well look Griffen your coming for a ride with us. We need to do some talking about this little problem we got.

Griffin - uh uh uh but, but , but , but , MAMA !

Here
I had a guy get me for over 3 g's.

If he is still taking bets don't place any just keep calling for your money.

If he is not I would let it go. It's only money far worse can happen.

yeah i had a local that was like that once also. he kept saying to me that the losers have to pay him 1st

had the same thing happen to me. what b.s.!!!!!

3 months went by, and i kept building it up. he paid me a little and i said screw it and bet it all and lost.

i wouldn't turn him in though that won't accomplish anything.

first quit betting on that number. he's just waiting for u to lose. thats how it works.

ask for the number of the guy above him. call him and tell him the situation. he should take care of it.

treat them like a resturant or something, call and complain. they should take care of their customers.

Here is what may happen if you put the heat on him....he states you have been threatening him and trying to blackmail out of his loot. Then things could get expensive for you defending his charges.

Simply quit betting with him and ask for him to make installments....Then hold him to it. If he fails to meet the agreed upon installment plan..tell his other customers to beware...either he will square up with you or he will eventually be out of business.

Of course he will take your action. He know's the odds are in his favor to knock off some of what he owes. Stop. Get payments started. Do not go to authorites unless you want to get some of the blame.

you do to him just what he would be doing to him if you owed him the money. you go every week to his payoff day and hang there until he starts paying you something. if he continues to stiff you, start pounding on his door early mornings to say hello and ask when he might get you some of what is owed.

Juat keep hounding him like he would you to get your money and make sure his other players know what is going on, until you start getting paid.

-Wilson, i thought about that he'll tape our conversations and try to get me with extortion or something

-tbonez, i know, nobody likes a rat, i been ratted out in back in the day but know i got a little one and have settled down and the only thing i do illegal is gamble now. This is absolutely the last thing i want to do is rat someone out.

Just very frustrated, i called today and he didnt even answer (i f**king hate caller ID) usually he'll tell me the lines. So now its a cat and mouse game of phone tag. We never meet in the same spot and i dont even live in the same town so this aint going to be easy. :moon:

think this has happened to everybody here. once when younger and not as much to lose, i threatened and threatened and chased him around the golf course as he was a golf pro and finally he was to get married and threatened to bring it to his new father in law and i got paid shortly after. just last year i got screwed out of 30 large and still have not been paid. he still lives here and is still screwing people. but now the stakes are higher for me and can't afford the trouble if i got aggressive. i can always give up half to a collector but really don't know if it's worth the $15 to risk facing the law. currently i call him every other month and let him know i did not forget and expect to be paid:chairshot

30 large? I believe that somebody needs to be making some sort of payment on that sort of debt. Not an easy amount to forget. You must have been on a tremendous roll.

I will rough him up for 30% :D

i really thought he was good for the money and let it go for 3 weeks and yes i was on a good roll. he kept giving me stories and giving the run around. his son worked for me for god's sake. the worst thing about it was i paid him dearly during football season and he didn't pay me during baskets. i never forget. may or may not get even but i am glad i am not the one with this on my shoulders. hope you are reading ned  :nutkick :bigun: :wall: :sadwave:
