Does anyone have info on when betting a dog when to take the moneyline instead of the points? Any info would be appreciated, my thoughts right now are at 3-.

It goes this way. You don't play a dog getting 5 or less unless you think they will win. In games where the line is 5 or less the winner pulls the line over 90%. If you are going to play the dog in one of these games you are better off taking the ML. Good luck

gsp- Thanks for your analysis, I would have thought 5 was a bit high, but if your numbers are right it makes for good money management to play the money line on a dog up to five points.

ego- I've done it that way too, but it often seems that when you lose you end up losing both bets, and if gsp's numbers are right this would show to be true.

it is a bit risky, you just have to pick your spots, just like you would in any other situation.

but look at it this way, if you were gonna put let's say $200 on a team at + 5 anyway, wager 150 on the +5 and 50 on the ml. you'd be losing 220 anyway if the team doesn't cover.

Guys, I have to correct myself. I thought I was still in the NBA forum. Everything I said was correct except the %. It's not quite as high in the NCAA as in the NBA. Good luck

I have to believe they can win. I stay close to +4 and under. I show Witch St tonight as a 3 point winner and im getting 3.5. I would consider this a close look at ML play. Thats what I have tells me. Others are high on the other side of that game. And you will get that to with lines of less then -4.
