butler/youngstown under 124

* believe it or not, this number is a little inflated (124 seems low, but it should be closer to 119-120 in my opinion) because both regular season meetings were fairly high scoring games -- and one of them went into overtime.

* but tourney time is a whole new game. and this is when butler just slows their games to a crawl and the games stay in the half-court

* this years butler team isnt as good as past editions but the loophole in the horizon tourney that guarantees them that they will play at home for as long as they remain alive gives them as good a chance as anyone to go the ncaa tourney

* heres a stat for you - and it speaks volumes about the tempo they set and the defense played once the league tourney rolls around:

in the last four years, butler has only had ONE horizon league tournament game crack tonights posted total of 124 (and even that one had just 130 pts)

butlers 9 games in the horizon league tournament the last four years have AVERAGED just 112 points.

* these two teams met less than a week ago. any defensive breakdowns will be addressed and i dont expect a whole lot of clean looks

other horizon opinions (but not playing either game, just throwing in my opinion. add 50 cents to either opinion and you can probably snag a cup of coffee):

cleveland state + points
* not a play on csu- because theyre miserable, more of an opinion against detroit. its hard to bury a team three times in the same season. detroit won by 22 in the first meeting and 22 in the second meeting. have seen the ugly dog come up with a decent effort in this kind of spot many times and lose by low double-digits. the favorite just toys with em and the game stays just sloppy enough to give the dog a chance to cover

loyola-chicago + points
* wright state has really overachieved this season. loyola is normally a player in the horizon tourney. just not sure the raiders should be laying that many points in a league tourney game. raiders couldnt stop mcmillan this season in either meeting. this one could stay tight.

vinnie:

one team that ive never had any success with is wisconsin, either for/against them and either over/under. they just jam me somehow. on paper, this should be an under, but its a little too low for my liking. ive cashed a few msu unders this year but their defense just isnt what its been in the past. a lot at stake in this game though- could be a defensive battle. but i cant do it. gl if you play the under there.

spang- not trying to jinx but as of now, damn nice play on csu under. that appears to be the correct under in the horizon
