The world tour continues.... I will be moving to Hong Kong in mid-april to live until the new year. Wondering if any of you have any advise as to what to expect, to do, ect... Obviously i will be working for our office there and travelling all over the far east, this being the most important part of the world as far as cotton is concerned. Are there casinos in or near hong kong? Do they play hold em? I know they all come to the states to play poker, but for sure they have something over there. Just curious as to what you jackers have to offer! Thanks in advance:D

I know Macau has a number of casinos, asian gaming is a huge market right now. Also fantastic horse tracks over there from what I hear.

"Back in April I had to leave Hong Kong for a day to get my work visa activated. I took a hydrofoil ferry from the main Hong Kong Island to an island named Macau. Macau has been governed by the Portuguese for around the last couple of hundred years. It is destined to be handed over to China on 1/1/99. It has it share of crime and corruption. It is a very small island that's economy is built on the gambling and tourism and is frequented by people from the local region. A certain part of the island is where the Portuguese originally built their town center. It is like stepping back into a European village with Asian food and product hawker in their stalls on the streets.

It sits atop a hill and over looks most of the island. Macua St. Peters
About 7 weeks ago I took my first trip around the Hong Kong surrounding islands to a close by little island named Cheung Chen. I spent sometime walking through the very narrow streets. The are virtually no cars and folks walk, take a boat, or ride a bicycle. Most of the industry there is fishing with a little tourism thrown in. People living in Hong Kong, especially the younger ones go to Cheung Chen for the weekend to get away from the city so to speak. It is a one-hour ferry ride from the main island of Hong Kong. There is some great hiking and even some secluded beaches, this is rare considering that there are 6.5 million people in the Hong Kong region."

Hong Kong- Macau

Hong Kong- Macau

Went to H.K. 5 times in late 1987-1991...doubt if much has changed....only legal gambling in H.K. is Horse racing.....Macau is a short hydrofoil away.....Macau's casinos would not let you in wearing shorts...had to be pants....sort of dress code...locals call the slots " hungry lions"....casino's had full compliment of games....I had shorts on first trip and ended up at the Jai-lai stadium across the street....had a blast, it was air-conditioned, had cold good beer, and I ended up winning a dab.....
