Pretty even teams but going in different directions.Iona has won 3 in a row and Canisius has lost 4 of 5 last games and the win was to Loy Md.
Iona won both games this yr 70-66 and 78-68.They have won the past 6 winning also by 3,9,10 and 14.
Iona has its quick gds in Burtt and Solivar.W/o Williams Burtt has elevated his game.Jenkins inside and with Bruin give the gaels a decent inside game.
Canisius has Downey who is there top scorer.Foster is solid and the loss of Doss at pt gd is starting to hurt.Esp in tournament play.
Iona is dangerous.There offense is"street ball" but they can run the break,play pressure defense.Their defense is suspect and the Griffs can shoot the 3.
But team speed and better athletes give Iona a 6-8 pt win.
Brown **** over Columbia
Both teams can score.Brown won way back 90-81.Forte is the only "stud" out there.Brown has more team speed and Powers and Kilburn with Forte ane better then any Lions.Brown on the road has beaten Harvard,Penn,Darmouth by 24,4 and 23.Powers had a caeer nite the 1st time these teams played scoring 34 pts.
Columbia defense will have trouble keeping pace with Brown offense.
Marist +9 over Siena *
Yes thats one box on my Foxes.Magarity took out old films from 1992.The 8th and 9th seed have had good luck in the MAAC tournament.In 97' fairfield won 3 in a row for the sweep and in 2002 Siena did the same.The problem is in the past 2 MAAC tourneys the Foxes were elimanted by Siena.So who do they draw 1st..Siena
Siena is bigger and more physical.They are playing at home at the Pepsi Arena.Foxes are quicker but can't shoot.Even FT's.
But even though the saints have won the games have been close like 71-65,67-65 and 70-68.Marist ats record is horrendous like 3-9 ats.
Haddix is tough to stop inside.But Marist frosh Jordan can penetrate.The problem of course is after he does that who can score.
