i didnt really agree with the northern illinois play over buffalo but this toledo play is a great great play. and it has nothing to do with any anti-buffalo whatsoever. toledo is just better, period and that value is obscene. id lay 3 or 4 with toledo honestly

Did you guys get a chance to see these guys on TV? You know Northern Illinois shot 60% and still lost by 17? Did you see how stifling there D was (forced 16 turnovers) and how well they took care of the ball (only 5 turnovers). Did you see Ibidhi's dominating post presence? You see the kind of open shots they create for their players? Did you notice how every shot NIU took they had a hand or two or three in there face? Did you see how well this team plays as a unit? It's amazing what Reggie has done with this team.

How many teams do these guys need to kick the crap out of before you stop saying how every team they play has more talent?

I'm not playing this game so good luck to you guys and I hope Buffalo wins by 1.

farrow:

just to elucidate-- these are the 'tiers' of the mac in my opinion:

truly elite teams who will win 8 out of 10 times they play a lower tier team on a neutral court:

kent state
western michigan

teams that arent elite, but capable of winning the mac:

miami,ohio
toledo

teams that are capable of an upset but basically middle of the pack

bowling green
buffalo

after that, i would put the mac in this order:

akron
marshall
ball state
emichigan
ohio
northern illinois
central michigan

if you read that list from top to bottom, thats exactly my order in terms of mac strength, with kent state being #1 and cmu #13

G-man-
I actually do agree Toledo has more talent. Just think Buffalo plays very well as a team (especially defensively). Play horse and everyone in this league would hand us our ass on a plate. Reggie's done a great job with this team. We get alot of open looks off of set plays, and on the other end the other team has hands in there face on almost every shot. Buff playing with alot of passion right now.

Toledo could very well pull this one out, just don't see a ton of value here is all i'm saying.

tough loss on the IUPUI. thought we had that one.

bohawk-
turned out to be an anxiety attack? weirdest thing ever, thought I was having a heart attack. guess there was just too much energy at the game

Toledo
in my defense...

1 - Ive only faded Buffalo once since this crazy run

2 - Toledo is not NIU. Toledo has the best guards and the deepest bench in the mac....

3 - The best setup I could possibly hope for. A close Toledo win against CMU and a blow out win by Buffalo

Yeah actually this probably isn't a bad spot to go against them. I just can't bring myslef to do it. Was interested to see your write-up. I'm going to Cleveland Thursday. Will stay if Buffalo wins.

farrow:

i gotta agree with hellah. close toledo/cmu game. blowout for buffalo.

honestly- there is absolutely no reason for buffalo to be laying points here.

you said it yourself. you expected a pick game (and thats factoring in your subconscious bias, which is good for 2.5 pts ;) )

but seriously, toledo should be pick to -2 here.

trust me, i know how well buffalo has played. theyre kicking ass and taking names. but theres no way they should be laying chalk in cleveland. proximity favors toledo- and like hellah said, those guards are studs. triplett/villegas/ingram are as tough as youll find.

buffalo might hold the edge inside but thats it. toledo holds a big edge on the perimeter

do you have tickets already for the buffalo game? what section?

g-man:
Not sure of my seats, getting them through UB. Going to call tomorrow. School is doing a really good deal. Somehow bus ride and a ticket is 20. From what I've heard the tickets were getting have a greater face value then the 20 bucks were paying for ticket and ride.

I agree with all your points. Just a note of value - I have been browsing the MAC boards of late. Seems that everyone in the MAC is rooting for Buffalo to make some noise (unless there playing there team). There may be more Toledo fans then Buffalo fans, but the casual fan, and the fans of other MAC teams should be supporting the "cinderella" team - Bulls.

Now lets hope UIC doesn't blow this game like IUPUI did.

Toledo
Like I said earlier - what better position to take Toledo. Barelyyyy beating the MACs worse team - Central Michigan...and Buffalo destroying Northern Illinois by 17. Toledo IMO should be -5 or -6 and that Buffalo has absolutely no reason to be laying any points at the Gund - even if it is 1 point. What makes me like Toledo so much..........?

Keith Tripplet. Man what a player this guy is. He announced a few days ago that he will come back for his senior season instead of entering the draft. He leads the MAC in 9...thats right NINE statistical categories - one of those categories being my favorite - steals. He is the heart an soul of this team, but the team has proven that they can win without him. Few weeks ago while playing at Nevada in the bracket busters, he busted his nose and the team came back to tie the game with under a minute left after being down by double digits. This run was led by Sammy Villegas, Justin Ingram, and Chauncey Shelton. Its a young backcourt - but my oh my have they grown up and matured oh so fast. They can all shoot - especiallly Villegas...and they can all pass as Toledo runs screens like crazy.

This is a matchup I think where Turner Battle gets shut down. Tripp on Battle. I honestly think he keeps Battle under 10 points and will force him to find a way to get the ball into Yassin Ibihi.

Another thing that favors us Toledo backers that probably isnt factored into the line is Allen Pinson. He didnt play against Central Michigan due to a death in his family. But will return to the starting lineup tomorrow. I think the rotation of Pinson, Ricardo Thomas, and AJ Shellebarger(cant wait till he leaves) will contain Yassin.

Gman-

I see you still have Kent in the "elite" part of the MAC. That certainly was true for most of the season, but they've looked mediocre recently. Do you think they can beat WMU on a neutral court right now?
